Britain unveils new ID card. Bet you can’t wait to get yours!
Britain has unveiled its new biometric identity card which the government says will be vital in fighting illegal immigration and terrorism, while critics call it an expensive attack on civil liberties.
The controversial multi-billion pound scheme, which involves one of the world’s most ambitious biometric projects, will see ID cards used in Britain for the first time since they were abolished after World War Two.
Initially only foreign nationals from outside the European Economic Area will be required to have one if they come to Britain to work or study, but the scheme will be expanded to Britons and some others over the next few years.
Despite a series of embarrassing data losses recently, including the admission that the personal details of half the population had been mislaid, the government insists that both the cards and their related databases will be secure.
The Worldwide War on Terror continues to be the justification by incompetent politicans for every reduction in civil liberties and civil rights, every piece of nanny-state legislation, every intrusion into privacy a snoop ever thought of.
I don’t know who to thank for that? Osama Bin Laden or George W. Bush? Looks like a joint effort.

Looks like a bloody gift card for a baby shower.

I remember on a recent visit to Wal Mart that I thought I actually needed an sku code on an item for the cashier to scan, like the old days where a clerk runs back to see how much something costs. There was nothing there. The cashier looked at me like she was afraid I was going to freak out, as she gently scanned across what appeared to be nothing.
Beep! “That’ll be $4.87.” RFID tag. Sonnuva bitch!! She was a cute little thing, the way she was looking as if she was thinking, “Don’t freak out on me mister. I just work here.” I just laughed and said something generic.
That’s what I’m waiting for, to have something implanted in your earlobe, like livestock…they just wave a wand over you and get everything, SSN, physical address, photo, employer, etc. Cops will be waving them over hot chicks to get home phone numbers and no one with any authority over them will say a word. Ahh, to have such “security”.

It’s not the ID card that’s the problem. I’d imagine in an ideal world everyone would be quite happy to have one if we actually had a government that had our best interests at heart, but that’s not the case. Instead we have a bunch of fascist control freaks who would make hitler proud, therefore is it any wonder that anyone with half a brain cell inside their head doesn’t trust New Labour or The non democratic EU, which is the reason why id cards are being forced onto us in the first place.
