Now, take my son – please!
An Italian couple have sought legal help to persuade their 41-year-old son to fly the nest.
The Venetian parents, who have not been named, say their son has a job but refuses to leave home and wants his clothes washed and his meals prepared. They have sought help from lawyers at the consumer association Adico.
Lawyer Andrea Camp said a letter was sent to the son, advising him to leave home in six days or face legal action. If he refuses, lawyers will ask a court in Venice to issue a protection order for the elderly parents against their son.
“We cannot do it any more,” the father was quoted as saying. “My wife is suffering from stress and had to be hospitalised. He [the son] has a good job but still lives at home…
The couple turned to Adico after hearing of a similar case earlier this month in which Adico persuaded a son to leave home. After he left, his parents changed the locks.
Har!

Incredible, but neverthless true! Rare ,but ….As it is happening in almost every country of the western world sons and daughters tend to live with their parents much more than in the past.
Lack of opportunities, unemployment, longer accademic paths etc, etc,
The USA are experiencing the same phenomenon.Compared to Europe the sensible difference is that over here Universities are not based on the campus system which by all means is and was the primarly reason for boys and girls to quit home and adapt themselves to an independent life. Over here 80% of the students frequent the city university ,ore the closest one and stay home.Mamas, the idea of the italian mothers as sentimental voracious elements is gone. But definetely still a lot of mothers love to have their children around.
Self esteem lack is what very often seems to appear the motherhood side effect.
This is also the result of only one child tradition after the WWII.

Wow! It’s the other way around at my place. My parents were actually offended when I told them clearly that I had no intention of staying with them after college!
