Robin Hood banker gets suspended sentence

with one comment

A German bank employee who secretly transferred money from rich to poor clients has been given a 22-month suspended prison term.

The 62-year-old woman, dubbed the ‘Robin Hood Banker’, moved more than $11 million in 117 transfers…

The court in Bonn was told that the employee, who has not been named, took no money for herself.

The bank made a loss of more than $1.5 million when poor customers were unable to pay back unauthorised overdrafts…

The woman has begun reimbursing the bank for the losses, reportedly from a small retirement pension.

If her pension is anything like my Social Security check, she’ll be 247 years old by the time she finishes picking up the tab.

Where is Texas banker, Allen Stanford?

with 2 comments

Federal regulators say they do not know the whereabouts of billionaire Texas banker Allen Stanford, charged with a “massive” $8 billion international financial fraud.

We are unaware of his whereabouts,” Securities and Exchange Commission spokeswoman Kimberly Garber said from Texas.

Asked if Stanford may be outside the United States, she said: “Certainly that’s a possibility, but we don’t know.”

U.S. marshals assisting the SEC have been unable to serve Stanford with court orders freezing assets and appointing a receiver to run his Stanford Financial Group companies since a raid on his Houston headquarters Tuesday, Garber said…

CNBC reported that he had tried to hire a private jet to fly one-way to Antigua from Houston, but the jet lessor refused to take his credit card.

Credit is really getting tough – ain’t it?

Is it too much to ask for a warrant to shoot on sight?

UPDATE: The FBI grabbed him in Fredericksburg, Virgina.
