Tea Party Republican pleads not guilty to sex and drug charges
Archie Wilson [without his bible] awaiting arraignment
Bible toting Clermont County politician Archie Wilson surfaced from substance abuse treatment Tuesday to answer charges he traded prescription drugs for sex at a bed bug infested motel.
Wilson, 60, of Batavia Township, pleaded not guilty in Kenton District Court to soliciting prostitution and trafficking in a controlled substance, both misdemeanors that could send him to jail for up to 12 months.
Wilson, who is married with one son, refused to answer reporters’ questions as he left the Kenton County Justice Center…
Wilson, who was known for bringing his bible to County Commission meetings, resigned as a Clermont County commissioner earlier this month citing health concerns…
Wilson’s troubles began in June when a female inmate at the Clermont County jail, Amanda Lay [I kid you not], saw Wilson’s photo in a newspaper and asked to speak with a detective. She told investigators that Wilson, over a period of several weeks, had paid to have sex with her in Erlanger motels and that he had provided her with cocaine and pills, according to court records.
Lay…introduced authorities to second woman who claimed she also had “performed services” for Wilson in exchange for cash and prescriptions. While authorities have not released the name of the second woman, they said she told them she would “engage in shows or sexual encounters” for Wilson, whom she first met at the Venus adult dance club in Covington four years ago…
As I have been known to say in the past, there is sort of a natural justice to Family Values right-wing politicians getting caught with their pants down – lying about sex and drugs. I realize Christianity may hold the copyright on hypocrisy; but, today’s Republican Party – with appropriate aid from the Kool Aid Party – has perfected the process.
Supreme Court to decide if free speech is justifiable on television
Contents potentially offensive to some. If you’re easily offended by George Carlin – go away!
The Supreme Court is poised to take a fresh look at a key aspect of multimedia regulation — “indecent” material aired on the broadcast networks during the supposedly “family friendly” prime-time hours of 8 to 10 p.m. Oral arguments in this key free-speech dispute will be held Tuesday.
Why pretend this is a “fresh” look? The fundamentalist nutballs in charge of America’s right-wing demand changes to free speech time after time. When sufficient pimps for censorship are in place in Congress and the Supreme Court – this predictable dog and pony show arrives on the set.
At issue is whether the Federal Communications Commission may constitutionally enforce its policies on “fleeting expletives” and scenes of nudity on prime-time television programs, both live and scripted. The agency had imposed hefty fines on broadcasters for separate incidents. An expected ruling by summer could establish important First Amendment guidelines over expressive content on the airwaves.
A range of competing interests are at stake: Free speech versus censorship; regulation versus responsibility; art versus indecency.
No consideration of a public capable of making a choice, competent to run their own family lives. The origins of “political correctness” in conservative censorship still rule.
ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox are all parties in the case challenging the FCC regulations. A federal appeals court in 2010 for a second time struck down the government’s policies, concluding they were vague and inconsistently applied. Pending fines against the broadcasters were dismissed. The government then appealed to the high court…
“Family Values” Tea Party Republican owes $100K child support

Freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, a tax-bashing Tea Party champion who sharply lectures President Barack Obama and other Democrats on fiscal responsibility, owes more than $100,000 in child support to his ex-wife and three children, according to documents his ex-wife filed in their divorce case in December.
“I won’t place one more dollar of debt upon the backs of my kids and grandkids unless we structurally reform the way this town spends money!” Walsh says directly into the camera in his viral video lecturing Obama on the need to get the nation’s finances in order…
An intense, silver-haired firebrand, Walsh, 49, has taken cable TV by storm in recent weeks, becoming the unofficial spokesman for the “No compromise” faction of the Republican majority in the U.S. House — refusing to consider any debt crisis solution that includes raising taxes on the wealthy.
Walsh admits he is not wealthy. Some of his financial problems — including losing his Evanston condo to foreclosure — were documented before his out-of-nowhere victory last fall in the 8th Congressional District in Chicago’s north and northwest suburbs…
Before getting elected, he had told Laura Walsh that because he was out of work or between jobs, he could not make child support payments. So she was surprised to read in his congressional campaign disclosures that he was earning enough money to loan his campaign $35,000.
“Joe personally loaned his campaign $35,000, which, given that he failed to make any child support payments to Laura because he ‘had no money’ is surprising,” Laura Walsh’s attorneys wrote in a motion filed in December seeking $117,437 in back child support and interest. “Joe has paid himself back at least $14,200 for the loans he gave himself…”
Walsh lives with his new wife and children in McHenry. He has not paid any of the $117,437 yet, Laura Walsh’s attorney, Jack Coladarci, said Wednesday.
My lifetime political dicho still stands: Republicans would have invented hypocrisy if Christians hadn’t beaten them to it.
Arizona Mom – and daughter – accused of abusing same boy

County Supervisor Fulton Brock’s daughter has been arrested and accused of molesting the same boy her mother is charged with sexually abusing over a three-year period.
Rachel Katherine Brock, 21, the daughter of Fulton and Susan Brock, faces three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one of furnishing obscene materials to a minor. The charges are related to incidents that began when the boy was 14 and she was 18, according to court papers.
Susan Brock, 48, faces 15 child abuse counts for allegedly abusing the same boy starting when he was 13 years old and she was 45, the court documents report.
Mother and daughter are both being held without bond…
The reports do not say whether mother and daughter knew of each other’s alleged activities with the reported victim. However, the daughter’s alleged sexual contact with the boy took place within the time frame her mother is accused of molesting him.
County Supervisor Brock…said in a statement…”I have filed to divorce my wife. I cannot divorce my daughter. She is my blood. I will always be her Dad….As a person of faith I ask for your continued prayers.”
I guess that Family Values thing still works for vote-getting in Arizona.
Family values Republican resigns over sex with staffer

Indiana Republican Congressman Mark Souder, a staunch family values conservative who was elected as part of the Republican Revolution of 1994…is resigning his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives amid an affair…member of his staff…
“I sinned against my God, my wife and my family by having a mutual relationship with a part time member of my staff,” Souder added. “I am so shamed to have hurt those I love.”
He waited until he won the Republican primary a few weeks ago…before he announced his resignation.
Souder’s resignation, which was first reported by Fox News, was trumpeted Tuesday morning in an “in case you missed it” e-mail from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Democratic officials acknowledge, however, that Souder’s resignation will not improve their chances of carrying this solidly Republican district.
May as well acknowledge that Republicans are accustomed to voting for hypocrites who hustle the nut ball family values-vote as a matter of practice.
British ultras self-destruct in British election

They are third-rate political campaigners, though
The British National Party (BNP) failed in its efforts to break into the political mainstream when it suffered a succession of defeats in its key target seats.
The far-right party, led by Nick Griffin, was wiped out in its east London council stronghold of Barking and Dagenham, where its entire complement of 12 councillors lost their seats. In the parliamentary constituency of Barking, Mr Griffin came a poor third. The party had claimed it was on track to win 24 seats on the council, as well as win its first Westminster seat there.
…In the general election, the extremist group increased its share of the national vote to 1.9 per cent (562,979 votes) but it failed to gain a single MP from 300 candidates. In Stoke South, its other key parliamentary target, its deputy leader, Simon Darby, came in fourth. The party’s nationwide tally of 34 councillors also fell – from 34 to 12…
The BNP leader was pushed into third place in Barking by Margaret Hodge, the tourism minister and Labour incumbent, who doubled her majority to more than 16,000 votes. She told Mr Griffin to “pack your bags and go”. The 65-year-old added: “The message of Barking to the BNP is clear: get out and stay out. You are not wanted here and your vile politics have no place in British democracy.”
Bravo!
I’m surprised they didn’t follow the American model and just takeover the Tory Party.
North Carolina town bans thongs

Click for Florida alternative – NSFW in North Carolina
If you plan on going to Kure Beach, North Carolina, bring your sunscreen and shades, but please leave your thong behind.
The seaside community has adopted a zero tolerance policy on anyone wearing the barely-there bikini by the shore on their part of North Carolina’s Pleasure Island, just south of Wilmington.
“You can do what you want to in your own space,” said Mayor Dean Lambeth, “but for public decency, keep it off the public beach…”
The decision to forbid thongs was triggered by a couple’s recent inquiry about spending their honeymoon in Kure Beach, Lambeth said. According to the mayor, the couple wanted to know if they could wear thongs. The man thought the town’s policy on the matter was ambiguous, Lambeth said. After consulting with the police chief, he determined the ordinance should be amended to better address the issue.
Section 12-32 of the Code of the Town of Kure Beach, which was adopted on April 22, makes it illegal “for any person being naked or insufficiently clothed … to bathe or swim in the Atlantic Ocean” or any other area within the town’s jurisdiction. Sun-bathing “naked or insufficiently clothed” is also banned.
“Thong bathing suits or similar attire are specifically prohibited,” the code says.
Anyone wearing a thong on the beach will be fined $25…
He also suspected the decision on the thongs could end up in court and blamed liberals for that.
“You can file a suit — the way this country is leaning so far left, it wouldn’t surprise me,” he said. “They want to challenge it? They want to spend the money? Go for it.”
He’s probably right. Sex-obsessed Republicans seem to stick to public restrooms.
The voice of a newly “moderate” Republican

Bob McDonnell isn’t the first politician whose past writings have gotten him into hot water, but he is the latest now that a 20-year-old graduate thesis he penned has surfaced.
The paper, submitted in 1989, shows McDonnell’s thoughts at the time about the harmful social impact of working women, feminists and nontraditional families; the flaws of public education; and his disagreement with a federal court decision allowing the use of contraceptives by unmarried couples.
The contents of the thesis were first reported Sunday in The Washington Post. McDonnell, the Republican candidate for governor, wrote it at age 34 as a candidate for law and master’s degrees at what is now Regent University in Virginia Beach…
What potential harm McDonnell’s thesis will cause his campaign is unclear, according to observers who have long followed Virginia politics…
The thesis argues in support of a range of public policy changes aimed at supporting what McDonnell calls “traditional family values” by rewarding people who adhere to them and refusing government aid to those who don’t.
“Every level of government should statutorily and procedurally prefer married couples over cohabitators, homosexuals, or fornicators,” McDonnell wrote in one passage. “The cost of sin should fall on the sinner not the taxpayer.”
McDonnell may have already learned the essential lesson of American Republicanism as practiced in the 21st Century – Lie like Hell about being a moderate and a centrist – screw the voters afterwards!
The Family Values Brigade whines about a nude beach that’s been around for decades

Southwest Cove is on public land that isn’t visible from the highway. In the summertime, the beach offers a different view: naked sunbathers. Southwest Cove is one of the most famous nude beaches in the country, but there’s a move under way to make people put their suits back on.
For decades, people have come to visit the beach, which is listed in nudist guides and on Web sites. All are welcome, naked or not, while cameras without permission and sexual behavior are forbidden.
The beach is on public land that isn’t visible from the highway. The state — which has no laws banning public nudity — advises visitors with a sign at a trail head leading to the beach that warns “be advised, you may encounter nude bathers.”
But some Westmore residents want to be able to use the beach without having to worry they or their kids will confront a naked person. They’re pushing the town to pass an anti-nudity ordinance
Tony Strange said, “All we’re looking for, you know, is no nudity on the public beach,” he said. “You want to be naked in private, fine. … I just don’t want you to prance around like a puffed up chicken in front of my kids and think it’s OK.”
Yeah, yeah – it’s for the children. Right. But, the fracking nude beach was there when you moved in, Tony.
There are two kinds of incomers. Those who find a lovely place, move in and don’t change a thing. And those who find a lovely place, move in – and try to turn it into their own private Disneyland.
