Carjacker gets one-way ride to jail – right through the door!

with 2 comments

Dude picked the wrong woman driver to mess with!

A carjacker was delivered to police in an unexpected way Tuesday afternoon.

The garage is where Kansas City, MO, police officers pick up and drop off prisoners every day. Tuesday afternoon, though, it wasn’t an officer who did the dropping off; it was a woman who drove her carjacker straight through police headquarters.

“He said ‘drive bitch or I’ll blow your head off,’” said Rayna Garrett. Garrett said that’s what the man said to her after he latched onto her hood while she drove down U.S. 71 near 28th Street.

“I was driving down the highway and he was in the middle of the street. I tried to go around him and he just jumped on the hood,” Garrett explained.

Garrett described her 15 minute, 10 block drive to police headquarters in downtown Kansas City, MO, as so terrifying she couldn’t even call the police…

Garrett said she honked her horn several times outside the police headquarters at 12th and Locust Streets and, when nobody came out, she drove through the garage door. It wasn’t until that point that the suspect finally jumped off Garrett’s hood and tried forcing his way onto a city bus just before police handcuffed him…

The suspect, Dionnete Price, went to the hospital to be treated for minor cuts and bruises.

Cool lady. She may have been too nervous to call the coppers on her cellphone; but, she sure-as-hell knew how to find the police station and the garage entrance.

Well, she sort of made a new entrance.

18 killed in Taliban attack on police station in Pakistan

Daily life in Bannu: Selling food originally donated to flood victims

Eighteen people were killed and 15 wounded when a suicide bomber ploughed his explosives-laden car into a police station in northwest Pakistan Wednesday.

The bomber’s car struck Miryan police station on the outskirts of the town of Bannu and badly damaged a nearby mosque.

District police chief Mohammad Iftikhar told AFP that most of those wounded were police officers and paramilitary personnel. “The target was the police station and the mosque is nearby. Police and paramilitary personnel were praying inside the mosque,” when the bombing took place, he said.

“There are some civilians also but most of the victims are security personnel,” he added…

The attack was immediately claimed by the Pakistani Taliban, who said it was to avenge US drone strikes in Pakistan’s tribal belt, which borders Afghanistan…

The suicide attack came as US Vice President Joe Biden was visiting Pakistan and delivered a bold message of support for Washington’s key anti-terror ally, telling the country that America is “not the enemy of Islam”…

The United States wants Pakistan’s army to do more to combat extremists on the border, including by launching a ground offensive in the district of North Waziristan, where it says key Taliban leaders reside.
The army has stalled on a ground operation, saying its troops are overstretched.

Looking at this from New Mexico, I don’t see a whole boatload of difference between death in Mexico and death in Pakistan. Sure, there’s a higher standard of living along our own border and the United States hasn’t started firing missiles from the drones we fly around border country [yet]. But, bandits killing almost indiscriminately – with little fear of retribution or capture – have the same look and feel regardless of language and politics.

I guess Mexico retains sufficient democratic infrastructure – and hasn’t the incredibly corrupt secret police like the ISI in Pakistan – but, bandits killing each other, murdering coppers and innocent civilians, still seems to be the same national sport.

Pee on the Police Station – then, walk in to make a complaint

with one comment

Detroit — Authorities said a man urinated on the side of the Royal Oak police station, and then walked inside one afternoon last week. Lt. Gordon Young told the Detroit Free Press that ”after urinating, the suspect entered the station in an attempt to file a police report on an undisclosed matter.”

That’s when witnesses informed the police at the front desk of the man’s activities while outside.

Deputy City Attorney Mark Liss said the man was issued a citation and likely will serve no jail time but pay a fine and court costs of $250.

Uh, OK. Cops are pretty understanding in Detroit. I guess.

Dumb crook of the day

A fleeing thief realised he had made a wrong turn in Florence when he found himself staring at bemused police officers instead of the post-office crowds he had hoped to melt away into.

The young Romanian snatched a bag out of a car and set off with a married couple in pursuit, witnesses said.

Trying to dodge them he ducked into what he thought was a central post office but instead discovered was a municipal police office “It was like something out of I Soliti Ignoti,” said one onlooker, referring to the 1958 Italian neorealist comedy classic.

The couple arrived hot on the thief’s heels and he was arrested.

Har!

A New Zealand rape victim drove her rapist to a police station when he fell asleep in his car after assaulting the woman.

Vipul Sharma, 22, was found guilty of abduction and two charges of rape by the Auckland District Court Tuesday, court officials told Reuters.

The New Zealand newspaper said Sharma met the woman at an Auckland bar in 2006 and later drove her first to a park where he raped her in the back seat of his car.

After the attack Sharma allowed the woman to drive and fell asleep in the passenger seat, so the woman drove him to Auckland Central police station where he was arrested.

She showed a lot of bravery and common sense. I have nothing but respect for what she has endured,” police detective Simon Welsh told the newspaper.

Bravo. The only addition I can think of to this almost-happy ending would have been slamming his whatchamacallit in the car door.

Thanks, Mr. Justin
