The good folks at ExtremeTech took it upon themselves this week to get at one of the Internet’s crucial questions—just how big are porn sites these days? The answer? Ron Jeremy big. To study porn sites, ExtremeTech turned to the DoubleClick Ad Planner tool from Google…
According to this tool, the online porn kingpin Xvideos feeds up 4.4 billion page views per month. That’s about 10 times as many as the New York Times and three times as many as CNN.com. YouPorn—another site packed full of stimulating content—notches 2.1 billion page views per month. And while people spend a few minutes per day on news sites, they tend to spend 15 minutes or more on porn sites, which would seem to say something rather definitive about, er, male stamina.
“But it’s not just men on the sites,” you shout. True, although the top porn sites count men as about 75 percent of their visitors. Breaking the stats down further, about half of the visitors make between $25,000 and $50,000 per year, while only 2 percent earn more than $150,000 per year. According to Google, the other interests of Xvideos visitors include Latin American music and gangs and organized crime, while YouPorn visitors like networking equipment and family films, so it’s an eclectic bunch…
Someone at YouPorn chatted with ExtremeTech and said the Google estimates are way below actual totals. YouPorn stores more than 100TB of porn and feeds up about 28 petabytes per month.
These types of figures put the top porn sites in a class that only Microsoft, Google, and Facebook really surpass.
OK. Now look surprised. :)
Before you can join the Laurens County Republican Party in South Carolina and get on the primary ballot, they ask that you pledge that you’ve never ever had pre-marital sex — and that you will never ever look at porn again.
The LCGOP unanimously adopted a resolution that would ask all candidates who want to get on the primary ballot to sign a pledge with 28 principles, because the party “does not want to associate with candidates who do not act and speak in a manner that is consistent with the SC Republican Party Platform.”
Among the principles, according to Vic MacDonald & Larry Franklin of the Clinton Chronicle, is standard fare like opposition to abortion and upholding gun rights, as well as “a compassionate and moral approach to Teen Pregnancy” and “a high regard for United States Sovereignty.”
But then they get even more specific. From the Chronicle:
You must favor, and live up to, abstinence before marriage.
You must be faithful to your spouse. Your spouse cannot be a person of the same gender, and you are not allowed to favor any government action that would allow for civil unions of people of the same sex.
You cannot now, from the moment you sign this pledge, look at pornography.
It is unclear how they will precisely determine this (or regulate it), but an unidentified potential candidate for office in Laurens County told the Chronicle that candidates will be interviewed by a three-person subcommittee, who will then recommend to the full executive committee whether to allow the candidate on the ballot…
Chairman Bobby Smith clarified in a statement Monday that “due to various legal issues” the LCGOP cannot require that the candidates sign the pledge if they meet all of the other qualifications for a run. But, he said, the committee “reserves the right to vet its candidates and will encourage all candidates to uphold the principles of the party’s platform as well as petition candidates to sign a pledge to do so. However, no candidate will be denied access to the Republican Party primary ballot for refusing to sign the pledge.”
This whole secret society pledge routine moves from curiosity to clown show – every time these nutballs come up with a new pledge.
I figure they’re going to add secret handshakes, word clues, maybe invisible ink tattoos that appear when licked by the pure of heart – before the national Republican Convention. That way they’ll be able to vote in unison and march in lockstep during the convention.
Sooner or later they’ll issue armbands.

A German Catholic priest has admitted 280 counts of sexual abuse involving three boys in the past decade, saying he did not think he was doing harm.
Named only as Andreas L, the priest told a court in Braunschweig that he had first abused the nine-year-old son of a widowed woman parishioner. After being banned by his diocese from making further contact with the boy, he abused two brothers, aged nine and 13…
The priest on trial in Braunschweig faces a minimum prison sentence of between six and six and a half years. He was arrested during the summer, after the mother of his earlier victim reported him to the authorities.
She acted after her son, now aged 17, revealed to her the abuse he had undergone for two years.
Sexual assaults were made on the three boys in various settings: at the priest’s house, on skiing holidays, in a parental home, on a trip to Disneyland Paris and at a church shortly before Mass.
The priest…said that while working in Braunschweig in 2004, he had begun a close relationship with the widow.
When Fr Andreas was moved to Salzgitter, her son often spent weekends with him, and the two would go off on short trips. He would give the boy presents such as a camera and a mobile phone. Abuse would often occur three times a weekend.
The priest said it had not been his intention to get close to the boy sexually, and that it had never occurred to him that he was doing harm…
The abuse of the two brothers…began under similar circumstances, the court heard…
“It was never my impression that the children did not consent,” the priest was quoted as saying at the trial…
About 2,800 pornographic images were found on the priest’s computer, including several of his victims.
I have no idea how thoroughly the Roman Catholic Church is acting to prevent future crimes. It sounds as if they’re still focussed on cleaning up – or concealing – old crimes.
A high school teacher is under investigation after school officials said she was maintaining a pornographic website from her school-issued laptop computer.
Lincoln High School teacher Heidi Kaeslin is on paid leave while the district investigates whether she violated its code of ethics…
The investigation also involves former Stockton police officer Richard Fields, who was assigned to the school as a resource officer. He told the newspaper he had acquired domain names including mysluttyteachers.com to develop them into websites…
Fields said the allegations are overblown. Kaeslin and her attorney declined to comment.
Kaeslin, a special education teacher and former girls soccer coach, has been with the district since 2002. Fields retired from the police department in May. The two are romantically linked…
Lincoln Unified School District has hired a computer expert to study the content on the laptop.
Conflict of interest? Running a business on school time, with school equipment? Bad taste [no reason for dismissal in California, certainly]? Titillating enough to get her on Fox Snooze?
He is a prolific artiste who has appeared in more than 350 films. But Shigeo Tokuda gets little in the way of recognition on the streets of Tokyo. Perhaps that’s because at 77 he couldn’t look less like a star. Or perhaps it’s because admirers tend to keep their appreciation of his work to themselves.
Tokuda has shot to prominence as Japan’s oldest porn actor, the unlikely face of a brand of Japanese blue movie that taps into the country’s fast changing demographics. And yet he didn’t even get started until he was almost 60.
Tokuda, who is married with two adult children and a grandchild, made his debut in 1994 after a meeting with a porn director in Tokyo.
“I was a fan of adult films and went directly to his office to ask if they’d got specific films in stock,” he says. “He asked me there and then if I wanted to appear in a film. I immediately said no.”
He soon changed his mind and at 59 in a hotel in western Tokyo he launched his acting career, playing the part of a company president with a roving eye…
Other than changing his name – Shigeo Tokuda is his professional alias – his attempts to conceal his acting career from his family are surprisingly half-hearted. He had to confess to his daughter after she intercepted a fax offering him a scene that left little to the imagination. “She was speechless for a while,” he says…
According to industry executives, the market for “silver porn” has doubled over the last decade and now comprises about a fifth of the 3,000 adult films…that Japan produces every year.
That growth reflects wider social changes in Japan, where more than a fifth of the population is 65 or over. That figure is expected to rise to about 40% by 2055.
The impressive life expectancy of the Japanese – 86.4 years for women and 79.6 years for men – has spawned a range of services for the elderly, from tailor-made exercise parks in playgrounds once meant for children to bigger, easier-to-read fonts in national newspapers…
Tokuda usually appears with much younger women – the youngest was 54 years his junior – in films with such titles as Forbidden Elderly Care.
Go for it, dude. Physical fitness for grayheads is an important category of lifestyle management.
Tokuda intends to stay in the craft until he’s 80.
A central California man has been arrested for possession of child pornography, thanks to a tip from burglars who robbed the man’s property…
Last month, a juvenile and a 19-year-old illegally accessed the property of Kraig Stockard, 54, of Delhi, California, according to a statement from Deputy Tom MacKenzie of the Merced County Sheriff’s Department. They broke into Stockard’s barn and stole approximately 50 CDs they believed were blank…
…When they began putting the discs into their computer, they discovered that some of them contained pornographic images of children, the statement said. Despite having obtained the CDs under decidedly shady circumstances, the pair decided to report Stockard to the police.
A search warrant was served and three more computers and three laptops were taken from Stockard’s home, along with several external hard drives. Police said there were thousands of pictures and movies on the CDs — more than 30 of the 50 discs had child pornography on them…
Their case has been sent to the Merced County District Attorney’s Office for review. When reached for comment, a press officer told CNN the office could not comment on the case because one of the informants in question is a juvenile.
Local authorities have made it pretty clear the burglars won’t be prosecuted. Their info led to an arrest for child porn. On balance, they did folks more good than harm. This time.
He is a good Christian, Michael is telling his two therapists. He goes to church most Sundays. He’s a devoted husband and father of two daughters.
“But when I would leave on business trips,” he says, “I knew I was going to get to be someone else.”
“Prostitutes, porn – I took anything I wanted.”
Sitting on a comfortable, worn couch, Michael glances out the window and sees a reflection of himself set against the parking lot of this suburban Atlanta office building. He fidgets, runs his fingers over his closely cropped blond hair and straightens his green tennis polo. He clears his throat.
Above his head hangs a poster covered in words describing feelings – angry, anxious, sad. On it is a big yellow cross.
Therapists Richard Blankenship and Mark Richardson wear solemn but empathetic expressions. Certified counselors and Christian ministers, they tell him they know how to listen and nod for him to continue.
“I’ve had a record of purity since March when I confessed to my wife,” says Michael, whose name has been changed by CNN.com to protect his privacy. “No porn, no masturbation.”
“Awesome,” Richardson says, leaning forward in his chair. “God knows you’re trying.”
This is Michael’s second week at “Faithful and True – Atlanta” a 16-week counseling program that, like dozens of others like it around the country, combines traditional psychotherapy with the Bible in an attempt to treat addictive behavior…
He says he has helped people achieve what he calls “sobriety,” which means resisting porn and lustful thoughts.
Though controversial in secular circles, much of the evangelical Christian world has been cheering this relatively new kind of therapy. Many believers, including many Christian leaders, consider it a powerful tool for fighting what they say is one of the modern church’s biggest problems: porn addiction.
There ain’t nuthin’ a fundamentalist Christian loves better than a good crusade. “Good” meaning any number of things, of course. Could mean killing furriners. Or even Americans who are the wrong color. Could mean condemning your kids to a lifetime of neurotic behavior and ignorance – sentenced to a belief in Old Testament shari’a.
RTFA. Apparently the bible-thumping crowd is off their rockers about sex, once again. CNN dedicated an enormous amount of space to the topic, yesterday.
I can’t get angry about such loony behavior. These fools are laughable in their beliefs, self-destructive in their solutions.
