Cat Stevens: Peace Train – Yusuf: Peace Train Blues

Up early as usual, this morning. Good grief, there wasn’t any proper football from England until just about grocery shopping time. So, I left everything in the capable hands of our DVR and went looking for some music.

I found the Chris Isaak Show on A&E – a picker and singer I’ve always enjoyed. It turns out his guest on the show was Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens. A fine performer and even better song-writer back in the day.

Yes, he briefly discussed being busted by Homeland Insecurity and sent back to the UK – his home – when on a trip to Nashville to visit with Dolly Parton and start recording the album just now being released Stateside. The idiots couldn’t comprehend a spelling error on their magic Muslim hate list; so, he was arrested and deported.

The agents all asked for – and received – autographs.

It’s time to return to my own workingclass roots. I think Obama has steadily worked to accomplish a great deal for the people of the United States. After all, look at the assembly of crap politicians he still has to work with in Congress and statehouses across this land.

It’s time to turn his back on the American way of war, on being the cops of the world. Bring our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, from Okinawa and Korea, from Germany and Italy. Fill up that Peace Train!

What mistake? He abrogated his humanity by accepting the disease of Islam into his – now destroyed – soul. It no longer has a place within America’s borders.

Interesting variety of “humanity” you practice yourself, dude.

Who do you plan on hating, next week? Someone other than theocratic christians, I presume.

Everyone, regardless of race or nationality, is born human – i.e. all men were created equal. Sadly, while created human and equal, some choose to degenerate into dangerous mockeries of mankind.

some choose to degenerate into dangerous mockeries of mankind.

And I suppose that includes everyone that doesn’t think the same as you.

Please tell us what Yusaf Islam has ever done to hurt you.

Mr. Fusion, he’s done me no direct harm, but then neither has Hezbollah or Hamas. But why would America allow a Muslim – worse a convert – into the country? Islam is at war with America.

And no, disagreeing with me isn’t necessarily a sign that one has abrogated one’s humanity. Believing certain things and/or committing certain acts and/or supporting those that do so are such signs.

        • moss says:

Absurd. First – Islam isn’t even a united religion in the manner of, say, Catholicism or the Southern baptists.

There is no political agreement between Sunni and Shi’a and Sufi.

Dude, you really should learn more about your topic before you decide to categorize.

Second, even a sect like the Wasabi is only united on subservience to the Saudi royal family and hatred of Israeli interlopers. Again, there is no thoroughly accepted giver of edicts. A fatwa may be issued by any cleric in the world – undebated. Kind of like a teabagger spokesman. 🙂

Though many of those commenting here at atheists, philosophical materialists, secular humanists of one stripe or another – I see little inclination to bigoted opposition to the religious tripe that some condemn as ideology. Certainly it doesn’t devolve into the level of fear you seem to justify.

Most muslims are not at war with America. Who tells you so? What unified acts convince of such silliness? Facts, bro’ refute your belief.

          • Mr. Fusion says:

Although this is one of the better explanations I have seen, I do have one quibble.

Since when has hatred, bigotry, racism, or what have you ever needed honest facts?

You can’t tell a blind man to come and take a look.

This is just like walking into a psychiatric institute and starting an argument with the first paranoid schizophrenic you happen to meet.

Trolls like jonolan are so detached from reality, it’s simply pointless to engage them.
