The amount of federal land available for offshore wind projects is about to triple. Next year, more than 742,000 acres of Massachusetts’ coastal region will open for commercial wind development http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/americas-offshore-wind-production-about-go-big-180953458/ According to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, in the U.S. there are 4,223 gigawatts of offshore wind power just waiting to be tapped – four times the amount of power currently used in the U.S.
Good grief. Someone finally convinced the Kennedys that alternative energy production trumps the view from their summer cottages?
