In a news release dated June 9, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) announced the launch of the new pro-blasphemy website that was inspired by a quote from Richard Dawkins’ book, “The God Delusion.” http://christiantimes.com/article/atheist-group-launches-pro-blasphemy-website-characterizing-god-as-the-most-unpleasant-character/72332.htm
According to Dawkins: “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction; jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving, control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” After receiving criticisms for the remark, Dawkins asked FFRF Co-President and former minister Dan Barker to compile a list of verses to help him back up his claim. The resulting book, “GOD: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction,” lists verses for each of the descriptions provided by Dawkins, and eight further descriptions have been contributed by Barker.
“God is every bit as depraved as Dawkins painted him, and more,” Barker said. “The new site includes biblical passages revealing that God is also pyromaniacal, angry, merciless, curse-hurling, vaccicidal, aborticidal, cannibalistic and a slavemonger,” he added.

Trump illustrates best that the function of religion in modern society hasn’t changed a jot over millennia: – corruption, fraud and theft are all OK with the forgiven masses – as long as you choose their god to promote as the “official” god.

Human suffering and evil is perhaps the most powerful of all the arguments against the existence of God. Christians who have a rigid view of Sovereignty will argue that every incident of evil is divinely orchestrated with a greater redeeming purpose, even if we are unaware of that purpose. In this view no gratuitous acts can exist.

“The United States is no longer a majority white, Christian country, and that is already beginning to have profound social and political implications. At 45 percent of the population, white Christians are a shrinking demographic—and the backlash from many members of the group against the increasing diversification of America has been swift and bitter. “People fight like that when they are losing a sense of place, a sense of belonging, and a sense of the country that they understand and love,” says Robert P. Jones, the author of The End of White Christian America, in this animated interview. “How do they reengage in public life when they can’t be the majority?” https://www.theatlantic.com/video/index/504065/america-post-christianity/

In contrast with leaders seated around them, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump did not recite the Apostles’ Creed—a common statement in Christianity—at the Washington, D.C. funeral for late President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday. (Newsweek) https://www.newsweek.com/donald-melania-trump-dont-pray-apostle-creed-sing-hymns-obamas-clintons-1245879
