“The release of the Paradise Papers should be a wake-up call to examine the GOP tax bill in greater detail, said Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, ranking member of the Tax Policy Subcommittee of the Committee on Ways and Means. “These reports raise a number of questions about a number of Trump allies, billionaire buddies and multinational corporations that have much to gain from the GOP bill,” Doggett said on the conference call. Offshoring profits “shifts the cost of government to people that aren’t as fortunate as Mr. Ross and other billionaires.” (the loss of tax revenue that shifting trillions of dollars of income into tax havens by global companies and wealthy individuals means there’s less and less money available for such things health services, infrastructure and public education).
