Judge Rules That Bars Can Refuse Service to Trump Supporters

❝ A Manhattan judge ruled…that there’s nothing “outrageous” about throwing the president’s supporters out of bars — because the law doesn’t protect against political discrimination.

Philadelphia accountant Greg Piatek, 31, was bounced from a West Village watering hole in January 2017, just after Trump took the oath of office, for wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, according to his lawsuit…

❝ “Anyone who supports Trump — or believes in what you believe — is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!” Piatek claims the staff of The Happiest Hour on West 10th Street told him after he and his pals complained about the rude service they were getting from a bartender…

❝ “Plaintiff does not state any faith-based principle to which the hat relates,” Justice David Cohen said in tossing the case.

RTFA to chuckle over the silliness Piatek and his lawyer came up with when they realized they were on shaky ground.

“US Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao became a far-right darling overnight after telling off [five] protesters who confronted her husband, senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, over the separation of immigrant families at the border.
Chao, a longtime Republican, shooed them away, saying “Why don’t you leave my husband alone?”
Her reaction earned her instant praise among conservatives. They characterized her as a “bad-ass,” and the protestors as bullies for ganging up on a female, minority politician.
Left out of the conversation: the fact that Chao’s hardship-filled journey to becoming an American is nearly identical to those of the Central Americans being stopped at the southern border. She herself arrived in the United States as a child and spoke no English. In fact, Chao credits her experience as an immigrant as one reason for her perseverance and success.” https://qz.com/1316241/what-elaine-chao-and-mitch-mcconnell-owe-the-us-immigration-system-according-to-her-official-bio/ “Perhaps what the protestors should have asked her was not why her husband was separating immigrant families, but why she hasn’t spoken up for them.”
(Chao’s story of immigration, as recounted in her own website, follows).

The women of ABC News’ “The View” feuded on Friday when guest host Tara Setmayer, who is also a Republican CNN commentator, referred to Republicans as “cult-like sycophants” who are afraid to speak out against President Trump. The show’s lone regular conservative, Meghan McCain, didn’t take kindly to the remark. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/06/29/beef-erupts-on-view-after-cnn-commentator-calls-republicans-cult-like-sycophants.html

Pruitt is seen quietly listening to Mink’s statements. The video cuts out after Mink’s speech. She said Pruitt had no response and left the restaurant before she returned to her seat three tables away.

Last week, Alan Dershowitz published a widely derided op-ed reporting that he’d been “shunned” by friends on Martha’s Vineyard over his public statements defending President Trump. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/07/03/despite-mockery-alan-dershowitz-says-ready-debate-vineyard-detractors/yuYFppKB9oUB9DTnj1ejeL/story.html “…And though he can be found with metronomic regularity on Fox News and other outlets saying things that sound an awful lot like support for the president, he insists that he is in no way a Trump supporter. He voted for Hillary Clinton, he said, and gave generously to her campaign.”

“Several officials in President Donald Trump’s administration have been confronted by citizens who object to the administration’s policies, particularly on immigration.
Stephen Miller, one of the chief architects and advocates of the White House’s “zero tolerance” immigration policies, has been a prime target of the anti-Trump public’s wrath.
In addition to having a protest take place at his home in Washington, Miller has told his White House coworkers that he was harassed by a bartender when he went to pick up a sushi order, according to The Washington Post.
Miller said he went to pick up an $80 sushi order from a restaurant near his apartment when the bartender followed him out of the restaurant. The server then called his name and when Miller turned around the bartender flashed him the middle finger on both of his hands.
“Outraged, Miller threw the sushi away, afraid that someone in the restaurant had spit in or otherwise tampered with his food, he later told colleagues,” the Post reported.
Last month, a fellow customer at a Washington Mexican restaurant where Miller was dining called the Trump adviser a “fascist,” according to the New York Post.” (USAToday 7/9/18) https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2018/07/09/stephen-miller-harassed/770165002/

“I can say n—a if I want to,” said one of the men.
Anti-Trump protests have been taking place at the Walk of Fame over the past few days, along with pro-Trump demonstrations, following the destruction of his star Wednesday.”

Video of the encounter published by NewportRI.com [link] shows the man, identified as Alex Lombard, approaching Spicer at event. This isn’t the first incident Spicer has faced on his book tour: A man interrupted a Wednesday event in New York City [link], yelling that Spicer is a “real piece of garbage.”

(Feb 14, 2019): “A reader in Thursday’s paper scolded the Sun-Times for printing a letter about a reader’s experience at the auto show wearing his MAGA hat. I think it provided a valuable lesson in the mindset of the MAGA voter.” https://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/maga-hat-man-auto-show-wrong-president-donald-trump-letters/ “The MAGA wearer has been led to believe by Laura Ingraham and her ilk that wearing a MAGA hat in public puts the wearer in danger from angry hordes of violent left-wingers (it doesn’t). When that didn’t happen, the wearer was surprised.
The MAGA wearer cites 14 people (at least!) who gave approval of his fashion statement. He assumes 14 approvals out of the literally thousands of attendees at the auto show is confirmation that he is in the majority (he isn’t). Finally, he cites Chicago Police giving him a thumbs-up as confirmation that they understand that he appreciates their service. The implication being that non-MAGA people are against law enforcement (they aren’t). So, I say thank you, Sun-Times.”
