❝ Earth’s oceans have become stormier since 1985, according to a study published Thursday in Science. In the most extreme places, wind speed and wave height rose by about 5 to 8 percent.
If this trend continues, it could exacerbate the effects of sea level rise, including floods that damage coastal communities and natural ecosystems…
❝ The authors said the precise role that climate change is playing in this trend is still unclear, because interactions between the oceans, the atmosphere, and global climate are so complex. It’s possible that the seas are becoming stormier due to warming temperatures, and that stormier conditions in turn contribute to extreme weather events.
Of course, the creeps at the top of the chain of command governing reactionary politics aren’t about to risk their butts working at any tough, dangerous job. If they work for a living at all.
“I hit 10,000 lies! Huge!”
❝ Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler on Monday said that President Trump has now eclipsed the 10,000 lie mark during his tenure in the White House.
“He’s now hit 10,000,” Kessler said Monday in an appearance on CNN. “That’s an average of about 23 false or misleading claims a day in the last seven months…”
❝ Kessler noted that Trump’s rate of saying false or misleading statements has picked up recently, alleging the president had made 171 such statements in the previous three days.
“The President continues to say false or misleading statements at an unbelievable pace…”
Meanwhile, American voters continue to deny they voted for Trump at a pretty amazing pace, as well. Who wants to admit they voted for such a scumbag?
The U.S. Navy is drafting new guidelines for pilots and other personnel to report encounters with “unidentified aircraft,” a significant new step in creating a formal process to collect and analyze the unexplained sightings — and destigmatize them.
The previously unreported move is in response to a series of sightings of unknown, highly advanced aircraft intruding on Navy strike groups and other sensitive military formations and facilities…
To be clear, the Navy isn’t endorsing the idea that its sailors have encountered alien spacecraft. But it is acknowledging there have been enough strange aerial sightings by credible and highly trained military personnel that they need to be recorded in the official record and studied — rather than dismissed as some kooky phenomena from the realm of science-fiction…
Luis Elizondo, the former Pentagon official who ran the so-called AATIP [Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program] office, complained after he retired from government service that the Pentagon’s approach to these unidentified aircraft has been far too blasé.
“If you are in a busy airport and see something you are supposed to say something,” Elizondo said. “With our own military members it is kind of the opposite: ‘If you do see something, don’t say something.'”
Tales of American Military bureaucracy still seem to echo the worst of history’s examples. You’d think that with a budget guaranteed larger than any other significant combination of nations a bit of confidence might temper the character of our own Colonel Blimps. Or Admiral Blimps.
❝ Three children were wounded in a police shooting Friday in Oklahoma when an officer fired at a man in a truck who was suspected of robbing a restaurant earlier in the month…
❝ The three injured children and a fourth child were all in the truck with William Devaughn Smith, Arbeitman said. The bureau initially said two children were shot but later learned a third child was also struck. Officials did not immediately release the names, ages or conditions of the children.
❝ Smith was treated and released at a hospital in Paris, Texas, about 30 miles south of Hugo…Paris Police Chief Bob Hundle said he did not know the details of what happened in Hugo but that his officers took Smith into custody so that he could be booked at the Lamar County, Texas, jail on a warrant for aggravated robbery.
None of the reporting [yet] says that Smith was armed. None of the reporting says anything about why the police considered him the suspect in the robbery. They still haven’t determined whether or not the robbery was committed by someone who actually used a weapon.

❝ A Twitter user shared an image of these flower-like muscles. The milk-making glands are divided into segments and the narrow tubes – or ducts – carry the milk from each segment to the nipple…
The image went viral in a matter of days and has more than 130,000 likes and counting.
❝ However, it was the act of breastfeeding that broke the ice. Some people managed to see the natural beauty within the flower-like ducts.
Which was exactly my reaction. Not certain what are the reasons for some to be upset about this. This is part of how women evolved. It ain’t porn, folks.
