AIPAC splits with bigots Trump & Netanyahu, over visit by Omar and Tlaib to Israel

Two courageous women feared by bigots & fake presidentsTom Williams

❝ The prominent pro-Israel group American Israel Public Affairs Committee…opposed a move by Israel — and supported by President Donald Trump — to bar Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering the country.

AIPAC, which advocates for a staunch alliance between the US and Israel, has frequently sided with Trump administration policies that have supported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, making its opposition especially notable.

Notably conservative, even AIPAC recognizes the bigotry of Trump — some would say unpatriotic use of presidential powers — asking a foreign head of state to deny legislative privileges assigned to elected members of Congress in the course of exercising their responsibilities regardless of party or ideology, religion or color.

Trump couldn’t care less about the traditional dignity and requirements of office. Netanyahu is his lapdog.

  1. Footnote says:

“Muftiyah Tlaib, the grandmother of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), spoke to The Washington Post on Aug. 16 from her home in the West Bank.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/meet-rashida-tlaibs-grandma-who-wouldnt-be-proud-of-a-granddaughter-like-that/2019/08/16/f90b055e-bf97-11e9-a8b0-7ed8a0d5dc5d_story.html Muftiyah Tlaib — who says she is somewhere between 85 and her early 90s — lives in the village of Beit Ur al-Fauqa, about 15 miles outside Jerusalem and close to the seam line between Israel and the West Bank, territory that Israel occupied in the 1967 war and that Palestinians hope to see as part of an independent state someday.

Beit Ur al-Fauqa (meaning “Upper House of Straw”) preserves part of the original Canaanite name for the village, and has been identified as the sites of Upper Bethoron. Archaeological finds indicate that Lower Bethoron (Beit Ur al-Tahta) was established before Upper Bethoron; potsherds found in Beit Ur al-Fauqa date from the Iron Age onward, while potsherds from the lower town date from the Late Bronze Age.
Israel has confiscated 213 acres of land from the village in order to construct the Israeli settlement of Beit Horon. After a settlement road denied them land access to their school, the children of the village now commute to the local al-Tira Beit Ur al-Fuqa high school, which is surrounded by the Israeli separation wall on three sides, through sewage channels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beit_Ur_al-Fauqa

  2. FOX News says:

“Trump suggests Dems’ Jewish voters lack knowledge or show ‘great disloyalty,’ amid Omar-Tlaib feud” https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-tlaib-omar-jewish-voters-democrsts-lack-knowledge-great-disloyalty Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office about his feud with the two Muslim congresswomen, the president accused Tlaib and Omar of being anti-Semitic and argued they “hate” Israel and Jewish people.
“I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat — I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty,” Trump said.
Democrats called Trump out for his use of the word “disloyalty.”
“At a time when anti-Semitic incidents have increased — due to the president’s emboldening of white nationalism — Trump is repeating an anti-Semitic trope,” Halie Soifer, the executive Director of Jewish Democratic Council of America, said in a statement.
But a prominent Jewish Republican group backed Trump’s language up.
“President Trump is right, it shows a great deal of disloyalty to oneself to defend a party that protects/emboldens people that hate you for your religion,” tweeted the Republican Jewish Coalition.
“Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar have a well-documented history of anti-Semitic comments, anti-Semitic social media posts and anti-Semitic relationships,” said White House spokesman Hogan Gidley.
