Devin Nunes, GOP’s worst best example

Take it far enough back and I have spent a fair piece of time with honest conservatives – a contradiction in terms for today’s Republicans – I participated in a few political actions with conservative friends who’d supported my own activities confronting American racism and more. Including being a founding member of the Young Republicans chapter in my home town BITD.

Cycle back to the 21st Century and ask anyone who says they’re a “traditional American conservative” if they’re a registered Republican. If they say, “yes” – then they spend more than tolerable time in their political life playing at “Let’s pretend I’m not a hypocrite!”

‘Nuff said.

Jan. 18 (UPI) — The House has released more documents related to their impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump — this time linking Rep. Devin Nunes and a congressional candidate to dealings in Ukraine.
The information comes from the third set of documents House Democrats released this week from Lev Parnas, a Ukrainian-American associate of Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani. The House released the new trove Friday evening. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2020/01/18/Impeachment-New-trove-of-documents-links-Nunes-to-Parnas/9961579353513/

As the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Tulare) presented a fiery defense of President Trump during impeachment hearings last month, angrily accusing Democrats of ginning up a false narrative about the president’s efforts to get Ukraine to dig up dirt on a political rival.
But newly released text messages suggest Nunes’ staff was aware of and involved in portions of the scheme, casting a new light on his combative defense.
A spokesman for Nunes did not return an email seeking comment Saturday. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2020-01-18/text-messages-point-to-devin-nunes-in-scheme-at-heart-of-trump-impeachment

Devin Nunes can’t sue Twitter over statements by fake cow, judge rules https://www.fresnobee.com/news/nation-world/national/article243664982.html
A judge has ruled that Rep. Devin Nunes has no right to sue Twitter over statements made by a fake Internet cow, someone parodying his mother and a Republican strategist.
Judge John Marshall said in a decision Friday that Twitter was “immune from the defamation claims of” Nunes, R-Tulare, due to federal law that says social media companies are not liable for what people post on their platforms.

Devin Nunes Loses Legal Battle With Twitter Cow https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/06/devin-nunes-loses-legal-battle-with-twitter-cow.html
“…Nunes’s suit advanced the idiosyncratic theory that the tweets were “part of [Twitter’s] agenda to squelch Nunes’ voice, cause him extreme pain and suffering, influence the 2018 Congressional election, and distract, intimidate and interfere with Nunes’ investigation into corruption and Russian involvement in the 2016 Presidential Election,” and somehow not protected by the First Amendment. Judge John Marshall did not agree.
Nunes has not yet lost his ongoing lawsuits against CNN, the Washington Post, Hearst, McClatchy, and Fusion GPS.
