US President Donald Trump has condemned all white supremacist groups, including the far-right “Proud Boys,” an organization identified as a hate group, following comments he made at the presidential debate earlier this week.
“I condemn all white supremacists, I condemn the Proud Boys. I don’t know much about the Proud Boys but I condemn that,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.
“If I say it a hundred times it won’t be enough because it’s fake news,” he added. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/10/2/trump-denounces-all-white-supremacists-including-proud-boys
On Wednesday, Trump told reporters at the White House: “I don’t know who the Proud Boys are,” adding, “They have to stand down. Let law enforcement do their work.” https://www.axios.com/trump-proud-boys-debate-stand-by-b47cdf10-35e0-4fc7-ac1a-5deeef325252.html

A member of the Commission on Presidential Debates said President Donald Trump’s attacks on the commission are “just wrong,” a rare rebuke coming from a member of an organization that strives to stay neutral.
“The president’s apparent strategy is to challenge the validity of the election should he lose,” John Danforth, a Republican and former US senator from Missouri who has been on the commission since 1994, wrote in a Washington Post op-ed Tuesday. https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/21/politics/debate-commissioner-john-danforth-trump-attacks/index.html
