“Texas Supreme Court rejects Republican-led effort to throw out nearly 127,000 Harris County votes : A handful of GOP activists and candidates had asked the state’s highest civil court to rule Harris County’s drive-thru voting locations illegal, and invalidate votes that have already been cast. The challenge has also been filed in federal court.” https://www.texastribune.org/2020/11/01/texas-drive-thru-votes-harris-county/

    • The fix is in says:

“A federal judge in Texas will hear a GOP-led challenge Monday seeking to invalidate nearly 127,000 drive-thru ballots cast in the Democratic-leaning Houston area.
The lawsuit is a major last-minute challenge to voting rules in closely watched states ahead of the election, in which some officials have made special accommodations amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Sunday, the Texas state Supreme Court denied a similar petition on drive-thru ballots. Roughly 10% of the votes cast in person during the early voting period have been cast at those sites.
In a separate case in Nevada, a judge is set to rule Monday on a GOP lawsuit seeking to halt early counting in Clark County, which includes Las Vegas, over the stringency of signature-matching computer software and how closely observers can watch votes being counted.”

Judge Andrew Hanen will hear the Houston challenge. Hanen was appointed to the bench in 2002 by then-President George W. Bush and is no stranger to controversy. Back in 2016 he blocked President Barack Obama’s push to expand the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program as well as another program aimed at parents of legal immigrants.

A Nevada judge blocked a Trump campaign lawsuit that requested a change in the way the state processes mail-in ballots. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/nevada-judge-blocks-trump-campaign-lawsuit-challenging-mail-in-vote-counting-process
The lawsuit, which the Trump campaign filed on Oct. 23, asked for a temporary restraining order to keep more ballots in Clark County from being counted. Carson City District Court Judge James Wilson denied the restraining order request but allowed a hearing on the matter to take place.
The judge ruled against the lawsuit, arguing the Republican petitioners “provided no evidence of any injury … direct or indirect to themselves or any other person or organization.” He added, “There is no evidence that any vote that should lawfully be counted has or will not be counted. There is no evidence that any vote that lawfully should not be counted has or will be counted. There is no evidence that any election worker did anything outside of the law, policy, or procedures.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2020/11/02/judge-says-gop-has-no-evidence-for-mail-in-ballot-claims-in-nevada/?sh=443472ab54b4
The Trump campaign still has another outstanding lawsuit in Nevada concerning mail-in ballots, which asks for extremely detailed election voting-related records, including every single Clark County voter’s signature both as it appears on their ballot and in their voter registration file. A hearing in that case is scheduled to take place Monday. The Republican National Committee has identified Nevada as one of the states where it anticipates legal challenges to take place post-Election Day as ballots are counted—along with Minnesota and Pennsylvania—making it likely that GOP officials will attempt to challenge mail-in ballots over signatures or other issues.

More than 1.7M absentee ballots returned in Minnesota as feds announce election monitors https://www.startribune.com/more-than-1-7m-absentee-ballots-returned-in-minnesota-as-feds-announce-election-monitors/572949792/
As voters rushed to return absentee ballots, Bill Barr’s Justice Department announced Monday that federal officials are being sent to monitor for potential elections law violations in Minneapolis as part of an 18-state Election Day operation.
Minnesota Secretary of State said that his office had received “no advance notice at all.” He added that law enforcement of any kind are not allowed inside local polling sites without invitation.
Adding to voters’ concerns, the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered on Thursday that all mail-in ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day to be segregated for possible legal challenges. An earlier state court agreement had expanded the deadline for receiving mail ballots to Nov. 10, as long as they were postmarked by Election Day.

“Proof of systemic voter fraud is “the Loch Ness Monster of the Republican party”, a veteran GOP campaign lawyer said, two days out from a presidential election marked by Donald Trump’s insistence that the vote will be rigged against him.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/02/voter-fraud-loch-ness-monster-republicans-trump-benjamin-ginsberg
“People have spent a lot of time looking for it,” Benjamin Ginsberg wrote for the Washington Post, exhorting Americans to “vote, but not for” Trump.
    “But it doesn’t exist.”
Before election day on Tuesday, Trump trails Joe Biden in national and most battleground state polls. In the face of unprecedented early voting, in person and by mail, the president has continued to claim his opponents will rig the vote.
At the same time, Republican state governments have implemented familiar voter suppression measures: limiting drop boxes for ballots, reducing polling locations and challenging votes cast in court.
Ginsberg, 68, is a Republican party veteran who in 2013 co-chaired the bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration, which was established by Barack Obama and which recommended a series of electoral reforms.
“As he confronts losing,” Ginsberg wrote, “Trump has devoted his campaign and the Republican party to this myth of voter fraud. Absent being able to articulate a cogent plan for a second term or find an attack against Joe Biden that will stick, disenfranchising enough voters has become key to his reelection strategy.”

This Republican lawyer just totally exposed the Trump campaign’s voter suppression efforts https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/02/politics/ben-ginsberg-voter-suppression-voter-fraud-2020-election/index.html
“Trump has enlisted a compliant Republican Party in this shameful effort. The Trump campaign and Republican entities engaged in more than 40 voting and ballot court cases around the country this year. In exactly none — zero — are they trying to make it easier for citizens to vote. In many, they are seeking to erect barriers.
All of the suits include the mythical fraud claim. Many are efforts to disqualify absentee ballots, which have surged in the pandemic. The grounds range from supposedly inadequate signature matches to burdensome witness requirements. Others concern excluding absentee ballots postmarked on Election Day but received later, as permitted under state deadlines. Voter-convenience devices such as drop boxes and curbside voting have been attacked….
“…This attempted disenfranchisement of voters cannot be justified by the unproven Republican dogma about widespread fraud. Challenging voters at the polls or disputing the legitimacy of mail-in ballots isn’t about fraud. Rather than producing conservative policies that appeal to suburban women, young voters or racial minorities, Republicans are trying to exclude their votes.” Benjamin L. Ginsberg.
