Once in a while…once in a great while [I hope]…the commentary appearing below any of these posts is so obscure to most of y’all that I get emails asking “WTF does this mean?”. You have to understand my musical and political roots. While Frank Zappa doesn’t predominate, his irksome style has appealed to me all the way to whenever BITD applies.
This song may help.
Republican Benjamin L. Ginsberg
GOP election lawyer for 38 years
“President Trump has failed the test of leadership,” Ginsberg declares in his op-ed. “His bid for reelection is foundering. And his only solution has been to launch an all-out, multimillion-dollar effort to disenfranchise voters — first by seeking to block state laws to ease voting during the pandemic, and now, in the final stages of the campaign, by challenging the ballots of individual voters unlikely to support him. This is as un-American as it gets. It returns the Republican Party to the bad old days of ‘voter suppression’ that landed it under a court order to stop such tactics — an order lifted before this election.”
“The truth is that over all those years, Republicans found only isolated incidents of fraud,” Ginsberg explains. “Proof of systematic fraud has become the Loch Ness Monster of the Republican Party. People have spent a lot of time looking for it, but it doesn’t exist. As he confronts losing, Trump has devoted his campaign and the Republican Party to this myth of voter fraud.”
A Republican, an honorable man, the keeper of most of the political virtues associated with the GOP for decades. Thrown into the garbage can by a fascist-minded populist pimp.
A fatefully placed whale sculpture in the Netherlands saved a careening train from certain devastation Monday, catching the lead runaway metro carriage on the graceful arc of its mammoth tail.
The improbable incident unfolded at the De Akkers metro station in Spijkenisse just after midnight. Photos from the scene suggest that the train, part of the Rotterdam Metro network, had been unable to stop as it reached its terminus and overran the track.
Rather than fall more than 30 feet to the ground, the train was brought to a stop by one of two whale tail sculptures at the end of the track. The driver of the train was able to escape. He visited a hospital as a precautionary measure, according to local media reports.
Authorities plan on removing his undershorts from the driver’s seat in a week or two.
