14 Congress-critters voted against a Juneteenth holiday. All Republicans.

Legislation to recognize June 19, or “Juneteenth,” as a federal holiday passed overwhelmingly in the House of Representatives Wednesday. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate on Tuesday.

Senate Bill 475, the “Juneteenth National Independence Day Act,” passed 415-14. The bill recognizes June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned slavery was ended, as a public holiday. President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation had freed all enslaved African Americans in rebel states two and a half years earlier.

I think there’s a small computerized voice that talks inside the head of Republicans who want to avoid being recognized as corrupt, racist fools. It provides them with reasonable-sounding excuses. Or they can just have lunch with someone from Fox Snooze.

Pentagon’s “UFO Report”

Military officials say they have no real idea what’s going on, and need lots of money to find out. And, BTW, they couldn’t figure out what they were looking at 143 times out of 144 reports!

The Pentagon’s long-awaited report on UFOs details 143 sightings of aerial objects that cannot be explained. Titled “Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena,” the report is a product of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). It’s nine pages long and while its findings are “largely inconclusive,” the report states that a small number of cases where UFOs “appeared to display unusual flight characteristics or signature management” can’t be explained without “scientific advances that allowed us to better understand them.”…

This report didn’t come to many conclusions, but it did pose a few possible ideas. “UAP probably lacks a single explanation,” the report said. “Our analysis of the data supports the construct that if and when individual UAP incidents are resolved they will fall into one of five potential explanatory categories: airborne clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, USG or industry developmental programs, foreign adversary systems, and a catchall ‘other’ bin.”

Crap report masquerading as a less-than-crap report.

Bill Barr finally got tired of Trump’s bullshit

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said the Justice Department always knew Trump’s claims of election fraud were “bullsh*t,” according to an excerpt from journalist Jonathan Karl’s upcoming book published in the The Atlantic.

Why it matters: Barr’s new comments come as Trump continues to propagate the lie that the 2020 election was “rigged.” Republicans in swing states now are conducting “audits” of election ballots based on false conspiracies about the election…

Barr said the department investigated a specific allegation, spread by Trump allies, that ballots were being wheeled into a central precinct in Wayne County, Mich., but found a simple explanation.

“In every other county, they count the ballots at the precinct, but in Wayne County, they bring them into one central counting place. So the boxes are coming in all night. The fact that boxes are coming in—well, that’s what they do.”…

Barr also said that he told Trump the lawyers pursuing legal election fights were a “clown show.”

Trump isn’t talented enough to be a clown in a genuine circus. Apparently, there is a chunk of Republican voters still OK with his mediocre performance as an ex-president.
