“At 9:38 a.m. on July 4, the National Rifle Association tweeted a triumphant video featuring a bald eagle superimposed over a waving American flag.
Over the jaunty notes of “Stars and Stripes Forever,” a voice intoned: “The only reason you’re celebrating Independence Day is because citizens were armed. Happy Fourth of July from the National Rifle Association of America.”
Just a few hours later in Highland Park, Ill., a gunman perched sniper-style on a rooftop fired dozens of rounds from a high-powered rifle into a crowd of July Fourth parade-goers, killing at least seven people and sending dozens to the hospital with injuries.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/07/05/highland-park-july-fourth-active-shooter/
“Lennon derived the title of “Happiness Is a Warm Gun” from that of an article in the May 1968 issue of American Rifleman, the magazine of the National Rifle Association (NRA). The magazine belonged to George Martin, the Beatles’ producer, who had brought it with him to the recording studio. Lennon recalled his reaction to the phrase: “I just thought it was a fantastic, insane thing to say. A warm gun means you just shot something.” Written by Warren W. Herlihy, the article told the story of how Herlihy had introduced his teenage son to shooting and how much the young man had come to enjoy the sport. The magazine had adapted the headline from the title of the bestselling book by Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, Happiness is a Warm Puppy.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happiness_Is_a_Warm_Gun

If you searched for the song title when the White Album came out, there were beaucoup hits referring to junkies shooting up. Especially when you boosted the hit by drawing a bit of blood back into a syringe and then shooting it up, again. I don’t find any references like that, nowadays.,,in fairly brief searches.
“March For Our Lives co-founder David Hogg interrupted a House Judiciary committee hearing Wednesday on an assault weapons ban, accusing pro-gun lawmakers of using racist talking points to oppose gun control legislation.
Hogg, who is also a Parkland school shooting survivor, interrupted comments from Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) that Americans should be armed against an “invasion on our Southern border.”
“The shooter at my high school: anti-Semitic, anti-Black and racist. The shooter in El Paso described it as an invasion,” Hoggs shouted at Biggs, referring to a 2019 shooting at a Texas Walmart, as he was escorted from the committee room.
“Those guns are coming from the United States of America. They aren’t coming from Mexico,” he added. “You are reiterating the points of a mass shooter, sir.”
The Judiciary committee was gathered to markup the 2021 Assault Weapons Ban and the Equal Access for Victims of Gun Violence Act.”
