She came to us from the Española [NM] Animal Shelter; so, there’s no accurate source of her parenthood. Though, the shelter mgr and my wife (who knows much more than I about canine lineages) both considered her to be an Australian Shepherd.
You don’t see it clearly in the photo; but, she was probably born missing her left eye. I sometimes felt that had something to do with why she was abandoned.
She came to our family a year or two old. Left us, today, after ten wonderful years and three months.
So maybe she had at least some Australian Shepard in her. I’m pretty good at identifying some breeds; Australian Shepard is not usually one, but I saw it right away in her photo, so it is likely there’s at least some of that in there if three of us saw it.
It’s truly an exquisite photo, but honestly, I thought it was an amazing photo because she was winking at me.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be, I also know that because of you, she had those 10 years and 3 months of wonderful years. So, she enriched your lives and you gave her one. She loved you and you clearly loved her. I wish you good heart-healing.
Was Sheila an Aussie Shepard? It’s an amazing photo. I’m sorry.

My wife and I thank you for your kind thoughts, Marla.
