Fake president picks fellow creep for Treasury job
❝ President Donald Trump’s pick for the top spokeswoman job at the Treasury Department repeatedly spread conspiracy theories that suggested then-President Barack Obama was secretly a Muslim who was sympathetic to America’s enemies…
❝ Crowley also endorsed a story claiming Obama was an “Islamic community organizer” trying to conform the United States to Sharia law and claimed conspiracy theories about Obama’s birth certificate were “legitimate concerns.” During Obama’s presidency, Trump was one of the most prominent voices pushing the so-called birther conspiracy theories questioning Obama’s birthplace. When he was seeking the presidency himself and under continual questioning, Trump finally admitted that Obama was born in the US but offered no apologies or explanation for the years he spent sowing doubt about Obama’s origins.
Birds-of-a-feather and other phrases about opportunist liars all apply.
Epstein’s arrest shows the power of one newspaper’s investigation
❝ In the past year the Jeffrey Epstein case was catapulted onto the national news radar by one newspaper, the Miami Herald, and by one reporter in particular, Julie K. Brown. The paper’s “Perversion of Justice” series came out last November, and Brown has stayed on the story ever since.
❝ As soon as The Daily Beast broke the news that Epstein had been arrested on Saturday evening, fellow journalists and other observers credited Brown and thanked her for the tenacious investigation.
Law enforcement officials are also giving credit to the reporting. “We were assisted” by “some excellent investigative journalism,” Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman said at a Monday morning press conference.
❝ Brown was in the room for the press conference. She was actually scheduled to interview another one of Epstein’s accusers on Monday. But after he was arrested, she cancelled that flight and booked a ticket to New York.
True to form, she sought to shift the spotlight, away from her own work and toward her subjects. “The REAL HEROES HERE were the courageous victims that faced their fears and told their stories,” she tweeted Sunday.
The standards of a real hero.
True Believers of Trump Will Accept That None of These Things Ever Happened
❝ I believe President Trump when he says “I never called Meghan Markle ‘nasty.’ ” I believe him even though Britain’s Sun newspaper published an interview with Trump the day before in which he referred to the Duchess of Sussex with that very word — and even though the Sun has a recording.
❝ Likewise, I believed Trump when he visited Britain last year and said “I didn’t criticize the prime minister” – even though the Sun also had a recorded interview of him that time, criticizing Prime Minister Theresa May.
❝ And I am fully prepared to believe Trump tomorrow if he says “I never called Sadiq Khan a ‘stone cold loser’ ” — even though Trump, landing in Britain on Monday, called the London mayor just that in a tweet that misspelled Khan’s name and also mocked him for being short.
❝ I believe all this and more because the alternative is unthinkable: that our great nation inflicted on the world a president who is, well, a stone cold loser, boorish and ignorant.
And, then, what does that make the Americans who really do believe this crap?

One of the most corrupt and owned Republicans in Congress is out of a job after the recent midterm election. Truly deserved.
Republican Congressman indicted for insider trading
Republican Congressman Collins and His Fearless Leader — The Nation
❝ Five GOP House members bought shares of an Australian biotechnology company in January 2017 that’s at the center of an insider trading indictment of New York Republican Chris Collins, congressional financial disclosures show.
Collins, who represents a district in western New York, is the only lawmaker accused by prosecutors of wrongdoing — stemming from his role on Innate Immunotherapeutics Ltd.’s board, not his position in the House.
But the allegations against him, along with the other lawmakers’ holdings, highlight how members of Congress face few restrictions on their investments, creating the potential for conflicts of interest, or the appearance of a conflict…
❝ Collins, one of the biotechnology company’s largest shareholders who served on the board and had access to information that wasn’t public, is accused of tipping off his son about the trial results for a drug to treat a form of multiple sclerosis, according to federal prosecutors in New York. His son Cameron Collins then passed along the information to others. The son and others who received the tip sold more than 1.78 million shares in the days before the trial results were announced, avoiding losses of $768,000…
Trump provides apt leadership for the majority of creeps in government. As Mark Twain said, “It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress”.

Best way to “friend” someone in Congress? Give them money!
❝ Want a favor from a member of Congress? Give him money. That was the advice Mick Mulvaney, the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and head of the Office of Management and Budget, gave to a group of some 1,300 bankers and lending industry professionals at a conference in Washington, DC.
Mulvaney, a former South Carolina representative, said he would only meet with lobbyists who had donated to his campaign while speaking at the American Bankers Association conference on Tuesday, the New York Times reported. “We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress,” Mulvaney said. “If you’re a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn’t talk to you. If you’re a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you.”
❝ He did emphasize that at the top of the whom-he’d-talk-to ladder were his constituents — regardless of financial contributions — but lobbyists had to pay up…
EXAMPLE:
❝ The payday lending industry donated more than $60,000 to Mulvaney’s past congressional campaigns.
Since Mulvaney took over at the CFPB, the government’s consumer watchdog, the bureau dropped sanctions against the online payday lender NDG Financial Corp., which was accused of running a “cross-border online payday lending scheme.” It scrapped another lawsuit against four Kansas-based payday lenders that allegedly stole millions of dollars from consumers’ bank accounts to pay debts they didn’t owe. The agency shut down a probe into World Acceptance Corp, which donated at least $4,500 to Mulvaney’s congressional campaigns…
‘Nuff said.
