Artist invites you to “pay Trump bribes here” at Trump’s DC hotel

❝ The ongoing gallery of anti-Trump art just got a splashy new addition…Artist Robin Bell projected a series of words onto the front of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, on Monday night:

“Pay Trump bribes here.”

“Emoluments welcome.”

And then the text of the emoluments clause of the Constitution, which forbids US government officials to accept gifts from foreign powers…

❝ …It’s why presidents traditionally step away from their businesses while in office — and some say it’s downright illegal, because of the emoluments clause. Trump is facing a lawsuit from the liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, who argue that the emoluments clause prohibits Trump’s businesses from accepting payments from foreign governments.

Way cool. Worth repeating around the world. For your local crooks – as well as our world-class thug-in-chief.

Is there anything about taxes that Trump doesn’t lie about?

Click to enlargediscovered by Univision reporter Enrique Acevedo

An adviser to Donald Trump on Tuesday offered a new explanation for why a portrait of Trump — paid for by the Republican nominee’s charitable foundation — wound up on display at a Trump-owned golf resort in Florida.

Trump, the adviser said, was actually doing his charity a favor, by “storing” its painting on the wall of a bar at Trump National Doral, outside Miami…

MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson pressed Boris Epshteyn. Was he really talking about the $10,000 portrait that was recently discovered — by an Univision journalist — at the Champions Bar and Grill? “You’re telling me that that is storage, for Mr. Trump?” Jackson.

“Right, of course, he’s doing a good thing for his foundation,” Epshteyn said.

That appeared to be the first time that anyone connected to Trump has explained the rationale behind the placement of the portrait, which was discovered by Univision’s Enrique Acevedo last week.

Trump bought the painting at a charity auction in 2014, with a winning bid of $10,000. Later, he paid with a check from the Donald J. Trump Foundation — a small charity, whose tax records show no personal donations from Trump himself since 2008.

By law, tax experts said, the portrait then belonged to the Trump Foundation, and Trump was required to find a charitable use for it. If he did not, Trump risked violating laws against “self-dealing,” which prohibit leaders of nonprofit groups from using their charities’ money to buy things for themselves or their businesses.

Tax experts were not impressed by this reasoning.

“It’s hard to make an IRS auditor laugh,” Brett Kappel, a lawyer who advises nonprofit groups at the Akerman firm, said in an email. “But this would do it.”

I’m confounded by Trumpkins who say they’re looking for a champion to fight against government lies and corruption – and they choose one of the most corrupt pigs slopping at the corporate real estate trough in the whole nation.

Dumb crook of the day

dumb selfie

An Illinois woman who allegedly stole a dress from a West Frankfort store was arrested after she posted a selfie of herself wearing the pilfered garment on Facebook.

Danielle Saxton allegedly swiped a leopard-print dress from Mortie’s Boutique and then posted four photos of herself wearing the ill-gotten garb just hours later. Saxton even made one of the snaps her profile picture.

People who had also seen the store post about the theft were able to connect the dots and alert police. “Not two hours and our stolen dress has shown up on Facebook,” Mortie’s posted. “Gotta love it.”

“We just had a description and a direction of travel, but when the social media aspect played into it, we were able to identify who it was. And by looking at the background of the photograph we were able to pinpoint where she was at,” said Police Chief Shawn Talluto.

When police arrived to arrest the 27-year-old suspect, she was holding the dress and other stolen clothes.

The store previously used its surveillance cameras and social media to catch three other…shoplifters.

Same as it ever was. You don’t set off on a day’s worth of stealing because you’re extra bright.

Dumb crook of the day

Here’s a cautionary tale for would-be thieves.

A Connecticut man accidentally called 911 on his cell phone while he was allegedly stealing 700 pounds of scrap metal from a local business Thursday.

Police initially thought the call was a medical emergency, since they could only hear rustling in the background before the call disconnected…But once identified the caller’s location using GPS, they arrived at the scene to find Michael Gorneau, 46, had transferred the metal from a local business’s dumpster into his pick-up truck.

Gorneau accidentally called 911 while crawling under a fence, police told Southington Patch…The metal belonged to a company that makes metal doors, NBC Connecticut reported. Far from being trash, it’s generally sold to help pay for the employees’ benefits.

Gorneau was charged with third-degree trespassing and sixth-degree larceny.

Has anyone written a book yet called “Stealing for Dummies”?

Evangelical preacher goes on trial for theft and fraud

Evangelist and revival leader Ernest Cadick passionately preached God’s word, according to pastors in Indiana and Kentucky. But salvation wasn’t the only thing he was selling.

Approaching potential investors in churches, the ordained minister solicited $719,150 over 15 years for oil and gas ventures, then spent the money on himself, according to a federal indictment.

Cadick also used the apocalyptic prophecies in the Book of Revelation to fleece additional churchgoers at Louisville’s Evangel World Prayer Center, according to another indictment returned in state court, allegedly telling them that when President Barack Obama was elected, the dollar’s value would plummet to 3 cents as it was replaced with a new currency.

If they gave him their saving, the indictment alleges, he would fly it to Switzerland, where it would earn double their investment back each month.

Now the 60-year-old traveling evangelist is facing two separate trials — one in state court and another in federal — on those allegations.

He will be tried July 11 in Jefferson Circuit Court on three counts of theft for allegedly taking $29,500 from elderly victims in the Swiss investment scheme.

And he is scheduled to be tried today in Louisville federal court on 16 counts of fraud for allegedly taking money for oil and gas ventures and foreign currency investments and spending the money on himself, according to his indictment…

Long detailed article. Another Christian hustler who would kneel down and pray with his victims to convince them to fork over their savings in return for God’s guarantee of salvation – and more profits.

Investors sometimes make dumb decisions. Investors who make decisions based on “revealed word” and scripture written by a King’s committee in the 17th Century are beyond dumb.

A million protesters take to streets to oust Silvio Berlusconi

A million protesters, many of them women, took to the streets across Italy on Sunday calling on scandal hit Silvio Berlusconi to resign.

Marches were held in 200 towns and cities throughout the country as Italians voiced their anger and frustration at the 74-year-old Italian prime minister, who is facing charges of having under age sex with a prostitute and abuse of power. The aim of the rally was for women to protest at how their dignity and the image of the country had been offended by the media tycoon’s obsession with young girls.

Protests were held in Milan, Genoa, Naples and Bari but the largest was in Rome where thousands packed into the Piazza del Popolo which two months ago had been the scene of violent riots after Berlusconi won a confidence vote.

Demonstrators, including prostitutes and nuns, carried banners saying: “Berlusconi resign now” while another said “No prostitutes, no Madonnas, just women.”

The protests came a week after demonstrators had also attempted to march on Mr Berlusconi’s home at Arcore near Milan, where the alleged parties were held, in an attempt to throw knickers into his garden but police prevented them…

For almost a month now billionaire media tycoon Mr Berlusconi has been in the spotlight over claims of stripping nurses and policewomen at his infamous “bunga bunga” parties

Preliminary hearings judge Cristina Di Censo is not expected to announce before Monday or Tuesday whether she has granted the prosecution request to send the case to trial and if approved it could start as early as April.

I wonder when outraged citizens in Western nations will remember how to take to the streets en masse to protest against war and greed. I know, I know. Off topic.

Berlusconi is such a slimeball even his supporters, those who profited from his flavor of corporate patronage, are slitting off from his political party. It’s worth seeing the citizens of that ancient culture rise up against the debasement of their government.
