Our government can’t “afford to” spend more on healthcare and education
Roughly, this averages out to $290 million every day for 7,300 days. That’s how much money America spent on 20 years of war and nation-building in Afghanistan, according to Brown University’s Costs of War project.
I’ve been around a long time. Our government, the two incompetent political parties we have [we’re essentially allowed], have used the same lies to justify destructive behavior like this…and will continue to do so unless and until the people of the United States rise up and throw the bastards out of office. I ain’t holding my breath. This is a nation of ignorant, deluded sheep!
[OK. I was too pissed-off when I posted this morning. Foot-dragging drives me crazy. We’re way too polite to Congress!]

Thanks for clearing that up, Al. Bring back the Phrygian Caps, BTW. Stylin’.
Conservatives begin to realize Trump has lost grasp of reality!
He’s hearing those voices, again!
“The scale of Trump’s delusion is quite startling,” National Review senior writer Charles C.W. Cooke wrote on the magazine’s website.
Cooke said “an array of different sources” confirmed a report earlier this week by New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman, who said on Twitter that Trump has been sharing the popular new QAnon talking point.
But Cooke went even further, saying Trump not only believes he’ll be put back into the Oval Office but also that he will be gifted with a Republican majority in the Senate, believing that two Democrats will be booted from Congress and replaced by the GOP candidates they defeated.
He cautioned conservatives against downplaying or dismissing the report.
“This is not merely an eccentric interpretation of the facts or an interesting foible, nor is it an irrelevant example of anguished post-presidency chatter,” he wrote. “It is a rejection of reality, a rejection of law, and, ultimately, a rejection of the entire system of American government.”
Think about what this demented proto-fascist might have done if he’d gone this far over the edge when he was in the Oval Office!
Trump Would ‘Eat His Own Children’ If He Found It Prudent
Atlanta’s Democratic Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Wednesday ripped President Donald Trump over his willingness to throw fellow Republicans under the bus when they don’t agree 100% with his agenda.
“He will eat his own children, I’m sure, if he found it prudent,” Bottoms told CNN anchor Anderson Cooper…
Bottoms made the quip during a discussion about the upcoming U.S. Senate runoff elections in Georgia on Jan. 5, when GOP Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will face off against Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Democrats need to win both seats to tie the Senate’s balance of power 50-50, giving Vice President-elect Kamala Harris the tiebreaking vote.
No one is surprised by such an appraisal of this self-serving thug…in my neck of the prairie.
QAnon has folks running for Congress on their nutball myths
In November 2017, Marjorie Taylor Greene, a small business owner in the suburbs of Atlanta, uploaded a nearly half-hour long video to Facebook outlining the elements of a new conspiracy theory known as QAnon, which casts President Donald Trump in an imagined battle against a sinister cabal of Democrats and celebrities who abuse children.
“Q is a patriot, we know that for sure,” Greene said in the video, which has since been deleted. “There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles out, and I think we have the President to do it,” she said, referring to Trump…
There is no factual evidence or foundation for the conspiracy theory. In the three years since the conspiracy was born, QAnon has grown from an American virtual cult to a global phenomenon. QAnon beliefs aren’t just divorced from reality but can instigate real-world violence; The FBI warned last year that QAnon posed a potential domestic terrorist threat.
And now the people who have engaged with the QAnon conspiracy theory, including Greene, are running for Congress.
Because their campaign is baked into absurdist conspiracy theories doesn’t make this klown show any less dangerous than the Neo-Nazis playing at being conservative Republicans. Read it and weep. And wake up your friendly neighborhood Democrats to the need to stand up to these creeps.
Leading global medical journal refutes Trump’s lies about coronavirus reporting
One of the top peer-reviewed medical journals in the world on Tuesday rebuked President Donald Trump after the president incorrectly cited research it published on the coronavirus outbreak in a letter threatening to permanently yank U.S. funding to the World Health Organization.
The Lancet, a leading British medical journal that has been critical of the president’s ongoing WHO aid freeze, refuted Trump’s claim that the global health body “consistently ignored credible reports of the virus spreading in Wuhan in early December 2019 or even earlier, including reports from the Lancet medical journal.”
“This statement is factually incorrect,” the Lancet said, noting it published “no report in December, 2019, referring to a virus or outbreak in Wuhan or anywhere else in China.” – emphasis added
The first such reports published by the journal, the statement continued, were on Jan. 24, where two studies described the first 41 coronavirus patients from Wuhan, the inland Chinese city where the outbreak began, and detailed the first scientific evidence confirming person-to-person transmission of the new virus.
Those two reports detailed the Chinese institutions in mainland China, scientists and physicians from the mainland and from Hong Kong.
