US Navy officer up to Congressional standards — bribes and hookers

A US Navy Commander has pleaded guilty to receiving $250,000 in cash and prostitution services from a foreign defence contractor in exchange for state secrets.

Information Commander Stephen Shedd provided to the firm helped it defraud the navy of $35bn…

Shedd is one of nine members of the Okinawa-based 7th US fleet indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2017 for their role in the scandal, and the third officer to plead guilty.

According to the Justice Department, Shedd and the other officers received “sex parties with prostitutes and luxurious dinner and travel” in exchange for military secrets and “substantial influence” for the Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA) company, a Singapore-based firm founded by a Malaysian national, Leonard Glenn Francis.

Of course, if he wanted to go for the full Congressional Monte, he would have taken time to buy shares in the crooked company profiting from the bribes.

Rabobank will fund first Dutch brothel run by hooker co-op

Dutch lender Rabobank Groep has agreed to fund the Netherlands’ first prostitute-run brothel.

The bank will provide a credit line of “a few hundred thousand euros” for the renovation, furniture and other startup costs of 14 rooms spread over four buildings in the center of Amsterdam, said Carlo Verhart, a Rabobank spokesman. The brothel will be run by My Red Light, a foundation led by five sex workers.

“Their business plan looked really good,” Verhart said by phone. “We’re a cooperative bank and we’re proud to support a fellow cooperation.” He declined to disclose the terms of the loan or details of the business plan…

…Rabobank, a closely held cooperative formed in 1898 to serve Dutch farmers, is the second-largest lender in the Netherlands by assets.

Cooperatives have a long and democratic history in many nations. Even in the GOUSA. Not this liberated, of course.

Brazilian hookers expand language skills for 2014 World Cup

Prostitutes in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte are signing up in droves for free language classes in order to be ready for a barrage of foreign visitors to the tropical country during the 2014 soccer World Cup.

The women join many others in Brazilian society, from politicians to construction workers, who are racing the clock to prepare 12 host cities throughout the nation for the international soccer championship.

“When all this chatter about being ready for the World Cup started last year, we decided the women needed to be prepared for it too,” Cida Vieira, president of the Minas Gerais state Association of Prostitutes, told Reuters…

The group has solicited volunteers to teach English, Spanish and even Portuguese, she said, explaining that some of the city’s sex workers are immigrants who needed to learn Brazil’s primary language.

Vieira said demand for the classes could surpass the 300 women who originally expressed interest, with calls coming in from as far away as Sao Paulo, about 509 km (316 miles) from Belo Horizonte.

“This is important for the dignity of the work, the women need to be able to negotiate a fair price and defend themselves,” she said.

Glad to see these women are organized. Ain’t exactly the safest job in the world.

About 50 pages of evidence released on Monday provide new details about a complex prostitution bust that led to the arrest of an alleged brothel owner who listed State Rep. Mike Horner of Kissimmee as a client.

Mark David Risner, 55, is suspected of employing several prostitutes at an east Orange County home.

Risner’s calendars and client lists, released in newly public documents on Monday, show Horner used the same phone number in his dealings with the prostitution ring that he used for his re-election campaign.

The notes section of the list describes “Mike” as a “Congressman.” A calendar contained in the documents lists Horner for an hour of sex on April 10, at a cost of $200.

The list also references another unidentified “Congressman” from the “West coast of Florida,” with no contact information. That client, the document states, canceled his appointment.

There were no other apparent references to public officials among the dozens of other clients listed in the documents.

Horner…has not been charged or arrested in the case. He abruptly abandoned his re-election campaign last week, expressing regret and apologizing to his family and constituents.

Everyone always expresses regret when they are caught screwing around. I couldn’t care less about someone hooking up with hookers – other than safe and sanitary working conditions for the pros might be nice – but, the rest of it reflects on your relationship with the woman you probably swore to love and share with till death do you part. Or something like that.

I seriously doubt if there are many politicians floating around the great state of Florida – members of the Party-formerly-known-as-Republican – who are publicly committed to unconventional anything much less marriage. So they are liars.

Meet the Fokkens — Amsterdam’s oldest prostitutes

Amsterdam’s oldest prostitutes have been thrust into the spotlight with the release of their memoirs and a documentary film about their lives. The film, Meet the Fokkens, follows 70-year-old identical twins Louise and Martine Fokken as they share secrets of selling sex in the city’s famous red light district.

Louise and Martine shuffle round their cluttered two-bedroom apartment in Ijmuiden, just west of Amsterdam.

One in slippers, the other in sandals, they fetch foaming mugs of coffee and their favourite cream cakes.

There is an absent-minded synchronicity to their movements.

Martine hums as Louise breaks into an old lament about families forced to flee during World War II. Their mum was part Jewish, something they managed to hide from occupying Nazi forces while remaining in the Netherlands. Louise’s song dwells on the joy of living and the sadness of leaving.

“We were very little during the war. When the sirens started our mum would take us down into the basement. We didn’t have any helmets so we used frying pans to cover our heads. We all looked so funny. And we had fun there.”

I ask, when she looks back at her life in Amsterdam, was there more laughter or tears?

“Oh laughter, definitely laughter. You have to laugh even if you are sad because it is your life and you can’t change it, but it is always better if you are smiling.”

The sisters nod in unison…

Martine still sells sex. She says the Dutch state pension alone is not enough to live on. Louise quit because of arthritis.

Martine says she would like to retire but cannot afford to. The documentary shows her at work – perched on a stool in stockings, suspenders and patent leather stilettos…

“There are always ups and downs,” Louise adds. “Ups and downs, ups and downs…” the twins sing-song, before falling into each other in fits of laughter.

They have a century’s worth of experience between them. And now their story is going global.

The twins’ memoirs topped the Dutch bestsellers list, and now an English translation is being printed and is due to be released later this year.

The difference is in the culture and the country, of course. Unless you’re a high-priced urbane call girl – with an equivalent short work span – life for a hooker in a country like the United States is filled with added danger. It ain’t just coppers and the law. Often, wanting, needing a pimp adds to the dangers instead of diminishing worries.

But, then, the absurdity of laws based on biblical morality hasn’t changed especially. We have means tests for potential sinners, We have regulations stuffing ordinary people into categories defined by dollars. Why should we expect women who work at sex to live an ordinary life?

Unless they’re in the Netherlands instead of the Land of the Free. Except where True Believers and science-haters have turned ordinary language upside-down to suit their pleasure – consenting adults means exactly that. Age may vary from country to country; but, if you say “consenting adults” – please realize that at least one of them may also be charging for a service. And they have a right to do so.

Thirty year old Memphis police officer Sean McWhirter decided he would use his squad car to transport and traffick prostitutes from Memphis to Mississippi.

Unfortunately for McWhirter, he as well as the handful of prostitutes, were all busted by Special Agents and Task Force Officers of the FBI in a sex trafficking sting operation on their last and expected final trip…

According to a release by the Department of Justice, McWhirter was transporting the three women from Memphis to a hotel in Tunica, Mississippi “for the purpose of prostitution.”

McWhirter, who was allegedly offering sex with the girls for $50, has since been released on $10,000 bail after his arrest, relieved of duty with pay, while pending investigation.

Sources add that there may also be some videos of McWhirter at a Memphis nightclub performing sexual acts with one of the prostitutes, McWhirter’s alleged girlfriend. McWhirter allegedly used the sexual acts with her, as a form of promoting sex with the prostitutes…

The audio conversation published by Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, on its website, is one of several recorded by police for Milan prosecutors between October 26 – 28 2010, after news broke that the then 17-year-old was among the guests at the ex-premier’s ‘bunga bunga’ parties at his luxury mansion outside Milan…

The billionaire politician, who resigned in November, is on trial in Milan on charges of paying for sex with Miss El Mahroug whom prosecutors allege was working as a prostitute.

He is also accused of abuse of office by pressuring police in Milan to release her from custody after she was arrested on suspicion of stealing cash and jewellery from a flat mate.

In another conversation recorded on October 28 2010, Miss El Mahroug is heard telling a friend named only as Antonella how excited she is…

“Silvio called me yesterday saying ‘Ruby how much money do you want?,” Miss El Mahroug says in the conversation.

“I will pay you whatever you want, I will dress you in gold but it ‘s important you hide everything. Do not say anything to anyone…”

Witnesses have described starlets and showgirls performing stripteases, which were held at the former prime minister’s villa at Arcore.

The parties were nothing more than “elegant dinners”, he said, repeating a defence that he has used ever since the scandal broke two years ago.

The trial continues.

You must wonder how the patience of Italian voters lasted this long. The corruption of a society by a multi-millionaire who controls much of the Italian press and TV is damning enough. Voters and elected officials allowed this manipulation of society to continue unchecked for years.

When will Italy rise up at the polls and kick out the thugs and sycophants who supported his reign for so long?

Colin Birch, 44, a former assistant vice-president of Deutsche Bank, had been turned down for a job on the same day that he paid the women to taunt him and call him a “loser” as he stood on a ladder with a noose around his neck.

Mr Birch told them he was wearing a safety harness and asked them to kick away the ladder so that they could carry out a mock execution. The women refused and walked away laughing. One of the women, worried for Birch’s safety, returned moments later to find him dying. The harness he had assured them he was wearing failed, the inquest heard. Mr Birch, a married father of two, had been made redundant in 2009 and was having trouble finding new work.

Louise Howard, who runs Katie’s Lovely Escorts, told the inquest that she received a call from Mr Birch on the morning of July 30 asking to arrange the “execution”…

The court heard that Mr Birch, who had been contacting Ms Howard regularly to see if the execution was arranged, sent her a text saying: “Just to clarify the role play. I will wear a harness to support me but will also have a noose round my neck for show. Girl will ask for execution fee and I will go to my place of execution. My crime is being a loser.

“Girl kicks away stool and laughs and walks back to car without looking back so to show she has no feelings. Important stick to the role…”

…Miss Sturley said it “didn’t feel right” and the pair left as she “laughed loudly” as had been ordered. But worried for his safety she went back to check on the former banker.

She found him turning blue and screamed for help from Mr Bowyer and the pair cut him down and tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A church called the Phoenix Goddess Temple has been accused of being a house of prostitution, and a six-month undercover investigation has resulted in the arrests of 20 women and men who worked there…

Authorities are still searching for 17 more people — all of whom have been indicted — in connection with the prostitution enterprise, said Sgt. Steve Martos, a Phoenix police spokesman. The 20 people arrested so far have been charged with prostitution or other offenses, police said.

During a Wednesday search of the Phoenix temple and two church-related sites in nearby Sedona, police seized evidence showing that “male and female ‘practitioners’ working at the Temple were performing sexual acts in exchange for monetary ‘donations,’ all on the pretense of providing ‘neo tantric’ healing therapies,” Phoenix police said…

“What’s unusual is that they were trying to hide behind religion or church, and under the guise of religious freedom, they were committing acts of prostitution,” Martos said…

The website says at one point: “Sex is a holy, sacred and divine healing force at the core (of) our beings. Once we embrace this force instead of deny it, we become successful, happy and powerful manifestors.”

The website also features unclothed women, listed as residing in several states, under a “Goddesses” section.

Of course, prostitution should be made legal as should any number of other “morality” crimes. Allow for sensible regulation, health checks and above all else – collect taxes.

I guess that applies to real churches, too.
