These companies still give money to lawmakers who voted to overturn Biden’s election … for Trump

They still love me…

After a mob of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6 to try and prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s win, many top US companies scrambled to cut ties with the 147 GOP lawmakers who voted against the results…

Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, founder of Yale’s Chief Executive Leadership Institute, told Axios in March the companies that halted political donations are unlikely to lift this ban any time soon. However, recent Federal Election Commission filings show that some companies are still giving to these lawmakers…

Here are the companies that have still been funding (some or all of) these 147 objectors, according to Federal Election Commission data up to March 31:

Don’t let the chronic liars cash in on their dishonesty. Press secretaries like Joe Lockhart, Ari Fleischer and Jay Carney, who left the White House with their reputations in various stages of intact, made millions taking their skills — and credibility — to corporate America. Trump’s liars don’t merit that same golden parachute. Let it be known to the business world: Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie. We’re going to scrutinize, double-check, investigate with the same skepticism we’d approach a Trump tweet. Want to ensure the world’s biggest business media brand approaches you as a potential funnel of disinformation? Then hire away.

Trump Pandemic shatters records for new cases, daily death rate

It was another devastating day for the coronavirus pandemic in the US yesterday, with the total number of coronavirus cases passing 17m, the highest in the world by far. The US recorded almost a quarter of a million new coronavirus infections and more than 3,600 deaths yesterday alone. Thursday’s unemployment report also found that new jobless claims reached 885,000 last week, the highest weekly figure since September. In Los Angeles, two people are dying of Covid-19 every hour, as the hospitals system creaks under the weight of the pandemic.

However, there is some respite on the horizon. An advisory committee for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that the agency authorise a second coronavirus vaccine, developed by Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The Moderna vaccine was found to be more than 94% effective at preventing Covid-19 in a trial of more than 30,000 participants…

Twitter will remove tweets spreading harmful misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine, the company has announced, and will begin to label tweets that push conspiracy theories from next year.

Don’t delude yourself. Trump and his acolytes will declare a victory for their ignorant and racist policies. This confrontation with fascist politics ain’t going away. And the next rightwing candidate that will lead the American public down the road to obedience and death may be smarter than Trump. It ain’t that difficult a requirement.
