Halfway through year, America has already seen at least 309 mass shootings

Mass shootings happen in the U.S. with depressing regularity. The nation has seen at least 11 mass shootings since the start of July, with the latest on Monday at a July Fourth parade in Highland Park, Ill. At least six people were killed in the shooting; approximately two dozen others were taken to the hospital, according to preliminary reports.

Monday is day 185 of the year, and the country has already experienced at least 309 mass shootings so far. At least 309 in just over 26 weeks. This averages out to more than 11 a week.

The tally comes from the Gun Violence Archive, an independent data collection organization. The group defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people are shot or killed, excluding the shooter…

The massacres don’t come out of nowhere, says Mark Follman, who has been researching mass shootings since 2012, when a gunman killed 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

“This is planned violence. There is, in every one of these cases, always a trail of … behavioral warning signs,” he told NPR…

“The general public views mass shooters as people who are totally crazy, insane. It fits with the idea of snapping, as if these people are totally detached from reality.”

That’s not the case, he said. There’s “a very rational thought process” that goes into planning and carrying out mass shootings.

Personally, I think violence, especially gun violence, plays an idolized role in American history. Not as inspiration. Frequent public reference, a certain amount of cultural adulation for the shooter takes care of that. And we live in the belly of one of the most violent political entities in world history.

Random acts of murder and violence have always been justified in every corner of government in the GOUSA … or wherever else on this planet we choose to roam. Just sayin’.

Fake President thinks crashing a wedding party is good press — while El Paso and Dayton happen!

❝ President Trump found time between gun violence massacres to celebrate at his golf club over the weekend.

The commander-in-chief appeared to crash a wedding at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., hours after a mass shooting took the lives of 20 people in an El Paso, Texas, Walmart and shortly before a different gunman killed nine people outside a Dayton, Ohio, bar.

❝ Photos of Trump at the event posted on an Instagram feed for the DJ company Trio Productions drew condemnation from social media users who questioned the president’s timing…

“While bodies from TWO mass shootings were being picked up from the ground. While victims were in ICUs, their families weeping. While we all held our loved ones and prayed they would never be taken from us while shopping for groceries. This motherf—er went partying,” Twitter user Hayden Black wrote after seeing photos on CNN…

❝ Other users expressed condolences for the bride in the photo.

“Imagine 40 years from now, explaining to your grandchildren how you posed for a wedding picture next to this monster,” wrote a user called People Are Saying.

Trump’s base must be genetic retrogrades. They have to be dumber than him, right?

Think about comparing terrorist attacks to mass shootings in America

#1: More guns don’t make you safer

#2: Shootings are more frequent

#3: Restricting sales works

#4: Background checks work

❝ In most restrictive background checks performed in developed countries, citizens are required to train for gun handling, obtain a license for hunting or provide proof of membership to a shooting range.

Individuals must prove that they do not belong to any “prohibited group,” such as the mentally ill, criminals, children or those at high risk of committing violent crime, such as individuals with a police record of threatening the life of another.

❝ Here’s the bottom line. With these provisions, most U.S. active shooters would have been denied the purchase of a firearm.

Please, RTFA for all the points examined by Frederic Lemieux. At a minimum, you may learn a few new facts about the reality of American background checks.

#5: Not all mass shootings are terrorism

#6: Historical comparisons may be flawed

Profiling is profiling whether it’s Canada or the GOUSA

Three men from Manchester caught up in a potential terror investigation in Canada have claimed Vancouver police racially profiled them because they had beards.

CCTV pictures of the trio in a Vancouver shopping mall were leaked to Canadian media last week after they were seen taking “suspicious” photographs.

Vancouver police…appealed for information about the “suspicious incident”, which they said involved three “Middle Eastern-looking men” who were spotted inside the Pacific Centre mall allegedly photographing the entrances and exits.

Yet the suspects turned out to be Mancunian tourists, two with poor sight – visiting Vancouver for eye surgery. Police later accepted they were taking so many photographs so they could zoom in close when they get home.

“These guys can’t even see! And you expect them to be pulling off something big,” said Mohammed Sharaz, a Briton of Pakistani origin. He said he was visiting Vancouver with his 14-year-old son, Salahuddin Sharaz, and friend, Mohammed Kareem, both of whom suffer from retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic condition that eventually causes blindness…

Of Kareem he said: “My friend, when he looks at anything head-on, he doesn’t see like me and you do. So he’ll take a picture or a movie and then later on when he gets back he zooms into it and he watches stuff. He takes pictures of anything and everything.”

The two are being treated at the Wellspring Clinic for Holistic Medicine by Dr Weidong Yu, CBC reported. Sharaz said the treatment is not available in the UK…

Vancouver police had put out an appeal for “Middle Eastern-looking men”, saying that while they had no evidence the men had committed a crime in the mall, they would like to speak to them about what they were doing…

Police said the CCTV photographs had been leaked to “a Vancouver news outlet via an unknown source, and were not intended or authorised to be shared with the general public. The information was part of an internal police bulletin circulated amongst police officers throughout the province of…British Columbia…”

Vancouver police say they were shocked, shocked I tell you…that someone would leak photos of suspects to the press.

Cripes, I need new rubber boots after that one.
