How much of the world’s porn traffic is directed to the GOUSA?

So, all the protestations of piety from our politicians, blathering self-congratulation [or is it self-gratification?] from priests and pundits, seems to come to naught. Just maybe it’s because most Americans don’t consider porn a big deal in their lives.

They’re wrong, of course. Especially since it seems to be about 99% constructed to service male supremacy. Though, I also think that’s another expression of the lameness of individual feelings of power and voice in this society. Frankly, not the highest priority for economic analysis on my horizon.

Anyway – here’s the link to Pornhub’s Annual Report to the congregation. Some of it is worth a chuckle.

Teen guilty of child porn for naked images – of himself – on his own phone

romeo & juliet
Romeo [likely 18 or younger] and Juliet [13] — in 14th Century Italy

A teenage boy in North Carolina has been prosecuted for having nude pictures of himself on his own mobile phone. The young man, who is now 17 but was 16 at the time the photos were discovered, had to strike a plea deal to avoid potentially going to jail and being registered as a sex offender.

Experts condemned the case as ludicrous. The boy was, however, punished by the courts, and had to agree to be subject to warrantless searches by law enforcement for a year, in addition to other penalties.

The young man was also named in the media and suffered a suspension as quarterback of his high school football team while the case was being resolved.

Cormega Copening, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was prosecuted as an adult under federal child pornography felony laws, for sexually exploiting a minor. The minor was himself

Copening was charged with four counts of making and possessing images of himself and one count of possessing a naked image of his 16-year-old girlfriend.

His girlfriend, Brianna Denson, took a plea deal after being prosecuted on similar charges for having naked, suggestive pictures of herself on her cellphone.

While the pictures were technically illegal, actual sex would not be – the age of consent for sexual intercourse in North Carolina is 16.

The pictures were discovered on Copening’s phone when authorities were investigating a wider problem of sexual images allegedly being shared at school without the permission of the subjects involved. Copening turned out not to be involved in that case.

He was prosecuted for having his own and his girlfriend’s image, despite them not having been shared further.

We’ve heard numerous references about political parties being stupid. The same is true for a seemingly endless list of politicians. It becomes more and more clear that states and nations also properly qualify as stupid.

States for not qualifying poorly written laws churned out by the butter-brains in Congress – like the federal child abuse image felony laws. Nations like the United States for not stepping in and sorting out the stupidity of crap laws like this in the first place.

RTFA for the tale of this whole disaster. A couple of kids who could have sex legally – just not take any pictures of themselves with their clothes off. The bureaucrats who believe the letter of the law is justifiably abused — rolled on into the inevitable plea deal which wraps around these teenagers for years including the registering as sex offenders and on and on.

Cripes! Will the United States ever get beyond obsolete religious morality?

British Library’s wi-fi blocks Hamlet as too violent

A man using the British Library’s wi-fi network was denied access to an online version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet because the text contained “violent content”.

Author Mark Forsyth was writing his book in the library, and needed to check a line from the famous play…

One security expert said the incident highlighted the “dysfunction” of internet filters…Mr Forsyth revealed on his blog that the filter had logged his attempt to access the page.

A spokesperson for the British Library said Hamlet had since been made accessible.

“The upgraded service has a web filter to ensure that inappropriate content cannot be viewed on-site,” he added…

Internet filters have recently come under increased scrutiny, after the government announced that pornography will be automatically blocked by UK internet providers, unless customers choose otherwise.

Digital rights activists raised concerns about the move, fearing that the lists of “banned” sites could be expanded to include pages that should be publicly available.

Prof Ross Anderson, a security expert at Cambridge University, told the BBC that internet filters were “pointless” and that it was “completely inappropriate” to have one in the British Library.

He added: “Everything that is legal should be available over the library’s wi-fi network. The only things they should block are the few dozen books against which there are court judgements in the UK.

“One of the functions of deposit libraries is to keep everything, including smut.”

The British Library defended its position with the inevitable political hack’s claim that it was “protecting children”. Crap rationale from tiny minds. I guess they deserve each other.

There already is an organization with the responsibility of deciding what children get to access. It’s called Parents.

Porn actor sought for dismembering and mailing body parts

A gay porn actor is suspected in the killing of his acquaintance, videotaping and posting online the man’s dismemberment and mailing the severed limbs to different locations in Ottawa, including to a political party’s headquarters…

Authorities are searching for Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, who they say is allegedly responsible for a human torso discovered in Montreal, thought to be linked to a human hand and foot that were separately mailed from Montreal to Ottawa…

The suspect has no criminal background, and his image and information related to him were later recovered from a “very graphic” website, Montreal police spokesman Ian Lafreniere said.

The source later confirmed that at least one of the websites examined by authorities was a pornographic site…

Police say they plan to charge him with murder once he’s apprehended.

Lafreniere said authorities have also found other body parts, potentially from the same attack, which is believed to have been committed in Montreal…

“It wasn’t a random attack,” Lafreniere noted. “They knew each other…”

The human foot was sent to the Conservative Party of Canada headquarters in Ottawa, prompting a hazardous materials team to investigate…

The hand was intercepted by workers at a Montreal postal terminal…

In Montreal, the human torso was found behind an apartment building, authorities said.

Any other interesting bits and pieces will be reported as they are discovered. Yes, the Great White North has their own share of nutball murderers.

Pornography is becoming more than a supplement to sex education

This is one of those topics that suggests enough discussion to prompt writing a book – or a separate blog. But, I’m not about to do either. So, discuss it in “comments” or among yourselves.

A rising number of children are learning about sex from watching pornography because sex education lessons are inadequate, researchers have found. The average age at which children first watch pornography is just 11, interviews with 140 pupils, teachers and people working in the porn industry also revealed.

Australian researchers Maree Crabbe and David Corlett said children were turning to adult films because schools were not handling the positive aspects of sex…

“Discussion of sex and intimacy is too often avoided in schools,” they said. “Porn has become a cultural mediator in how young people are understanding and experience sex. Porn is our most prominent sex educator…”

Mary Clegg, chair of the British Association of Sexual Educators, agreed there was a shortfall in sex education at schools. “A lot of our sex education is based on a don’t-do model,” she said. “But young people are hungry for more explicit information. They’re curious and they’re hormone-driven.”

The research found 88 per cent of scenes in pornographic films showed an element of physical aggression, with most directed at the female participant.

To me, that’s the key to the discussion. I would have said this – even prior to reading about the research.

Who will hit the screen with the 1st 3D porn flick? Who cares?

Took six days to film

Hong Kong director Christopher Sun is currently filming his $3.2 million ‘3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy’, which is due for release in May, but Italian director Tinto Brass has already announced he will produce a 3D remake of his 1979 erotic film Caligula.

Although mainland Chinese censors are almost certain to block the movie’s screening, it has sparked wide interest in other Asian markets, including Japan and South Korea, as well Europe, and the United States.

Producer Stephen Shiu said: “This is the future of the movie business — it’s human nature to want to see things in 3D.”

Adding to the pressure, the American company Hustler is making a pornographic spoof of 3D science fiction blockbuster Avatar, the highest-grossing movie of all time and the film that heralded the beginning of the mainstream 3D boom.

Are we supposed to be gullible enough to believe it takes more than a week or two to produce, edit and turn out a porn film? 3D or otherwise?

Professional production values are one thing. Plot, story line – acting talent?

It is to laugh.

Is it time for FirstBaptistChurch.xxx website?

They could have a tits-for-tithes promotion for new members.

On Friday, ICANN … voted to allow the application of the controversial “.xxx” top-level domain name for sites that display adult content.

The domain, which would need further approval before going live on the internet, would be applied to adult entertainment sites just as “.com” is now.

The .xxx internet suffix, which was first proposed six years ago by ICM Registry, a group that sells domain names, “will provide a place online for adult entertainment providers and their service providers who want to be part of our voluntary self regulatory community,” according to that company’s news release.

Adopting .xxx will be optional. However, some tech blogs speculate a push to make the domain mandatory for adult-only sites.

ICM Registry has already taken 110,000 pre-reservations for the domain, which could be available in early 2011, if not sooner, its news release states.

The “debate” over the xxx domain idea has been around for a long time. Its emergence probably has no implications whatsoever (but don’t expect that to stop the “debate”).

Playstation live combat > child porn!

A Kentucky man is accused of persuading an 11-year-old Humble girl to send him nude photos of herself while the pair played video games online.

Anthony Scott O’Shea, 24, of Somerset, Ky., has been charged with promotion of child pornography, online solicitation of a minor and sexual performance of a child. He will soon be transferred to Houston, said Sgt. Gary Spurger of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. The girl sent the man photos over the course of several weeks as they played games online with their PlayStation 3 consoles in December, Spurger said.

“She realized what she had done and felt bad about it and told her parents,” said Spurger, who investigated the case and coordinated the man’s arrest with Kentucky officials.

Uh, so her parents were doing a great job of staying in touch with their daughter’s online life…

The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office routinely investigates child pornography cases, but this is the first case Spurger said he’s aware of where the online predator contacted a child through a game console’s online network.

“This is another venue these guys are getting to use now that hasn’t been seen before,” Spurger said. According to court documents, the girl “performed” for the man using a Web camera.

She said she met O’Shea playing the game Warhawk and that he had used the screen name “Thunder-kid.”

Authorities said they also discovered that O’Shea had distributed the girl’s photos to other people.

There’s another surprise. Sheesh! Would she be dumb enough to hand around snaps on the playground at school?

Heicopter pilot loses license over porn video

A La Jolla helicopter pilot who turned up in an Internet video showing him engaged in sexual acts with a porn actress while flying over the city has had his wings clipped – again.

On Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency revocation of the commercial pilot’s license of David Keith Martz. He must surrender his license and will not be allowed to fly, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

Martz, who previously had his license revoked twice and suspended twice, is appealing the FAA action, Gregor said. A hearing will be held before an administrative law judge, probably within the next 30 days, to determine whether Martz gets his license back.

The FAA trained its sights on Martz again in February after he turned up in a video on the gossip Web site TMZ. Originally shot in 2007, the video showed him fondling a porn actress, who then performed a sexual act on the pilot while he flew over San Diego.

Even worse. He was stupid enough to let the video loose on the Web.

Porn in the U.S.A. or how the Republican base gets off…

Americans may paint themselves in increasingly bright shades of red and blue, but new research finds one thing that varies little across the nation: the liking for online pornography.

There are some trends to be seen in the data. Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds.

“Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by,” Edelman says…

After controlling for differences in broadband internet access between states – online porn tends to be a bandwidth hog – and adjusting for population, he found a relatively small difference between states with the most adult purchases and those with the fewest…

Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year’s presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama.

Church-goers bought less online porn on Sundays – a 1% increase in a postal code’s religious attendance was associated with a 0.1% drop in subscriptions that day. However, expenditures on other days of the week brought them in line with the rest of the country, Edelman finds.

Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages boasted 11% more porn subscribers than states that don’t explicitly restrict gay marriage.

All of which reinforces something the rest of us have always known. Hypocrisy was perfected by conservatives and christians.

Thanks, Justin
