The same crap politicians who would build a wall to keep people of color out have always relied on building an ideological wall around your brain.

A burqa and a pink-polka-dot Gibson Flying V electric guitar is not a common combination. Stereotyping, however, is exactly what Muslim woman and professional heavy metal musician, Gisele Marie, wishes to challenge.
Based in Sao Paulo, Marie, 42, is the granddaughter of German Catholics, and converted to Islam several months after her father died in 2009…Music is also a family affair for Marie. The musician grew up in a house of instruments, trained in classical piano, and has fronted the heavy metal band “Spectrus” since 2012…
“People do not expect to see a Muslim woman who uses a burqa, practises the religion properly and is a professional guitarist who plays in a heavy metal band, so many people are shocked by it,” said Marie. “But other people are curious and find it interesting.”
Before converting to Islam, Marie practised Wicca, a modern pagan witchcraft religion. She says that what she searches for in a religion is passion for life and the ability to be yourself.
I have no more criticism of Gisele Marie’s choice of religions than I do of any other. If she draws understanding and care for humanity, nature and life from what she believes – all well and good. As one may from most religions and many systems of philosophy. At root.
I’ve made it clear, often enough, I see no need to turn away from material reality. That is sufficient richness and truth for more than any one individual.

Trojan t-shirt fools right-wing “Rock for Germany” fans
Before and After
Music fans who took souvenir T-shirts from a rock festival in Gera, eastern Germany, have discovered they hold a secret message.
The so-called Trojan T-shirts bore a design of a skull and right-wing flags and the words “hardcore rebels”. But, once washed, the design dissolves to reveal a message telling people to break with extremism.
Some 250 T-shirts were donated to organisers, who handed them out at the nationalist rock festival in Gera.
The stunt was organised by a left-wing group called Exit, which seeks to reduce the influence of the right-wing in Germany.
“What your T-shirt can do, so can you – we’ll help you break with right-wing extremism,” the message reads, and provides a contact number for the group.
On its website, Exit said it had made contact with the organisers of the Rock For Germany festival, in its ninth year, using a false name and had offered the T-shirts for free.
Har! I wouldn’t be such a nice guy. I’d probably add a message about the wearer being a fool.
Of course, this all requires proto-fascists who wash their clothing – and themselves.
Hyper-texting teens more likely to smoke, drink, have sex
All that texting and social networking by teenagers could come back to byte them.
A new study by the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine links poor health behaviors — including smoking, drinking and sexual activity — to hyper-texting and hyper-networking.
The study defines hyper-texting as sending more than 120 messages a day. Hyper-networking is spending more than three hours per school day on social network sites like Facebook, it said…
“The startling results of this study suggest that when left unchecked texting and other widely popular methods of staying connected can have dangerous health effects on teenagers,” said Scott Frank, lead researcher on the study. “This should be a wake-up call for parents to not only help their children stay safe by not texting and driving, but by discouraging excessive use of the cell phone or social websites in general.”
“Startling” – my Aunt Hilda’s aspidistra!
The researchers say the results of the study are so striking that they are giving rise to a new health risk category for the age group.
The study is not the first time texting and social networking have come under fire. The activities have been blamed for accidents and promoting bad grammar skills…
Although, teachers complained about poor grammar before the internet too.
Cute tagline. And that’s all this article really is about. Let’s blame technology for screwed-up personalities.
I watched the interview with Dr. Frank, this morning. As much as the interviewer tried to steer him into sensationalizing a reasonably boring study – he wouldn’t fall into the trap of saying the study made any conclusions about cause-and-effect relationships.
No doubt people will scare themselves over evil cellphones changing their otherwise perfect children into dissolute criminals. This mostly looks like a study that measured yet another symptom of neurotic children. Probably with neurotic parents.
That’s not genetic. That’s about where you hang out.
