❝ Former RNC chairman Michael Steele, a longtime Trump critic, told ProPublica that the Republican Party is hurting its own candidates to protect Trump from embarrassment.
“There’s a lot of data they’re sitting on that they’re not sharing,” Steele said, adding that under Trump, “the RNC is not an independent actor; the RNC is now a part of the Trump campaign. The question now isn’t, ‘What do you need?’ The question is, ‘Do you support Donald Trump?’”
Michael Steele continues to get in trouble with Trumpublicans for telling the truth. A habit Republicans loyal to their fearless leader seem to have given up altogether.

“…Current and former party officials from two major battleground states confirm that the RNC refused their repeated requests for Trump data. “What voters in our state think about Donald Trump matters,” says the executive director for one state. “There are people who loved our governor but were turned off by the president. We deliver different messages to people who need to be convinced to come out to our side. How are we supposed to run campaigns if we’re flying blind on thinking about the president?”
When asked about this, [Katie] Walsh, who serves as a senior adviser to the RNC, embraces the proposition that the committee now — properly — does the president’s bidding. Because Trump effectively paid for the voter data by raising money for the RNC, according to this view, his campaign was fully entitled to withhold it even from other Republicans. “I don’t think most campaigns give their data out to other campaigns for free,” Walsh says. “So I don’t see why the president would be expected to. That’s all data work done by the RNC, and the head of the party is the president. So it’s his data.”
Says one veteran GOP consultant: “They should just put ‘TRUMP’ signs in front of the Republican National Committee building now, just like every other building he’s got.”

Xochitl Torres Small in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District, was outed as a “Never Trump” Republican Party member during the 2016 presidential election. Right-wing website Breitbart News first reported on Chase’s anti-Trump past despite her current candidacy portraying herself as an ardent supporter of the Trump administration. Facebook posts dating back to 2015 see her ridiculing Trump as a Vietnam War draft-dodger and threatening to vote for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson should Trump win the GOP primary.
“Dozens of Texas House Republicans have either demanded Speaker Dennis Bonnen’s resignation or dropped their support for him after audio released last week revealed that he offered a lobbying group access in exchange for dirt on members of his own party.
Bonnen announced Tuesday he would not seek re-election to the state’s House of Representatives in 2020, just months after the Republican had near unanimous support in the lower chamber. Bonnen’s fall from power comes after a 64-minute audio recording from June was released by Empower Texans CEO Michael Quinn Sullivan.
