“Michigan’s highest ranking Republican leader was caught on video calling the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol a “hoax” and espousing other conspiracy theories related to the siege.
Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, in a video posted on YouTube of a meeting with Hillsdale County Republican Party officials, said of the Capitol insurrection in which five people died: “It was all staged.” [he apologized later for being recorded]

  2. EXHIBIT says:

“Sen. Tommy Tuberville revealed late Wednesday that he spoke to Donald Trump on Jan. 6, just as a violent mob closed in on the the Senate, and informed the then-president directly that Vice President Mike Pence had just been evacuated from the chamber.
“I said ‘Mr. President, they just took the vice president out, I’ve got to go,’” Tuberville (R-Ala.) told POLITICO on Capitol Hill on Wednesday night, saying he cut the phone call short amid the chaos.
The existence of the phone call had been previously reported, but the detail that Tuberville informed Trump his vice president was in danger is a new and potentially significant development for House prosecutors seeking Trump’s conviction: it occurred just around the time that Trump sent a tweet attacking Pence for not having “the courage” to unilaterally stop Joe Biden’s victory. And Trump never indicated publicly that he was aware of Pence’s plight, even hours after Tuberville says he told him.”

  3. Update says:

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell has sued former President Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump, Jr., Rudy Giuliani and Republican Rep. Mo Brooks in a second major lawsuit seeking to hold Trump and his allies accountable for inciting the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6.

  4. Butcher's Bill says:

Former President Trump has been sued by a pair of Capitol Hill police officers for what they say are physical and emotional injuries they suffered as a result of the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 by his supporters.
Officers James Blassingame and Sidney Hemby allege in a lawsuit filed in federal court this week that Trump riled his supporters and encouraged them to commit acts of violence against them, according to The Washington Post.
